Frogpatch had mentioned that is trying writing a poem for Christmas, but does not really write poetry, so I thought I would share a poem that I wrote (and yes I do write poetry) a few years back:

REASON FOR THE SEASON

Feel the chill that is in the air.
See the smiles everywhere.

See the homes all lit with lights,
Twinkling like diamonds in the night.

See the man all dressed in red,
Loading up his famous sled.

Preparing for the long night ride,
The one that gives him so much pride.

See the gifts under the tree ~
I wonder if there is one for me?

Hear the carolds loud and clear.
Could it mean Christmas is here?

Hear the church bells as they call,
They seem to say "Come one, come all."

"It's time to remember the real reason
We celebrate this wonderful season.:

In a stable, dark and gray,
Among the animals and the hay,

In a manger was a child,
God's only son, so sweet and mild.

Born to Mary this cold, cold night,
To the world, he is "The Light".

So lift your voice, his praises,
"Glory to the newborn King!"

Have a Merry and Blessed Christmas!

Thank you! I love the feel of Christmas, although it doesn't feel much like it here. Today we were in the high 70's and tomorrow I believe they said we were going to be almost 80! Then this weekend, it gets colder again. Heck no wonder everyone is sick and not feeling well, including myself. This weather is nuts!!!!!

It is so important that we focus on the reason. When I was growing up the season would last through New years to the Epiphany or "little Christmas" as some called it. There is also an advent season which we are presently in. I found it so disheartening when I was driving home late on Christmas night, a few years ago, that the radio station stopped playing Christmas music at exactly midnight. The following day people rushed the stores trying to get half price decorations for next years Christmas, the TV was screaming out end of year clearance sales and Jimmy Stewart was packed up until next year.
