I have a client whose Direct Loans debt is more than double the original 2002 loan of 11K. He asks for "penalty or interest forgiveness, interest reduction or any other kind of relief. 

Do you have a company recommendation?

HELP !! what are my options with private student loan debt...i cannot afford to pay 776.00 a month and pay the rest of my bills... sallie mae will not offer any lower payment plans other than interest only payments. ive been doing that for two years and loan actually increased... is bankruptcy an option?????????????????

Hey SL - had a question and figured i would just ask you rather than post a thread.  is there any advantage to paying a charged off/ in collections acct, rather than settling it?  i.e would my credit be effected any more positively by paying in full?  thanks in advance.

Hi, I'm new on this site, and only have a short time to find answers. I only signed up to this site because I saw your response to someone on 5-18-2011 about getting a court summons from a credit card company and they were on social security disability. While I know they can't garnish the disability payments directly, you also said that they can't touch the person's bank account. Is that so? If so, is that for Florida, or all states (I'm in Kentucky). Basically, I have the same problem--have been served a summons and my 20 days to file a 'written defense' is up tomorrow. I've read elsewhere that they can take money from my bank account once my Social Security is deposited, as it's 'just money' at that point. I also have no idea what happens after this, except that they can file at the court to get a judgement--I'd like to have some idea of what a judge MIGHT say (assuming the person is reasonable) considering my circumstances (my wife has been unemployed for two years, and we and my son have been living off ONLY my Social Security for that time--absolutely NO money to pay ANY credit cards). Anyway, an answer of any sort would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully I'll be able to sign back into this site again and check tomorrow. After signing up, I tried to log in, and it asked for a 'User name' and password... when I signed up, I put in a screen name (BlackCloud), email, and password, but no user name, so logging back in didn't work until I 'reset' my password... and I still can't find a place to make a 'user name'. regarding my summons question you answered a short tim ago, The people are tenants that thought the summons was for them. It is an old credit card debt that I had forgotten about because this is the first time I've been contacted by these people.(to the best of my recolection) I did contact the OC about the acct, and they gave me the name of a company that bought the debt(it is not the same as who is currently persuing me). I did contact the firm regarding this matter and discussed hypothetical settlements and their resolution was way out of my reach(more than original debt). what if any advice can you give? I know that you have helped me with my PDL problems in Florida. I just read a post inwhich you replied and wanted you to know that Sure Advance is illegal in Florida. I wasn't sure myself, so I went ahead and sent the "illegal letter" to them via email in December 2011. I received a response stating that they were licensed in Delaware and not in Florida". dear soap lady i really need your help.  i have 14 payday loans and feel like i am at the last end of my rope.  what can i do to talk to these people and get set up to repay them but have them stop hitting my bank account?  also, i would probably be in biig trouble if i got a wage ganrishment sent to my employer.  help!!

I live in California and have a payday loan with Discount Advances. They are based in the West Indies. I was just paying the interest on the loan every two weeks for about a month and an half. The loan is for 420.00 dollars and the interest is 77.00 dollars. I lost my job and defaulted on the loan. I called them because I did not have the money in my bank account. They told me to wire them the interest of 77.00 dollars by the end of the week and they would allow the loan to roll over again. Before I could wire the money they went into my checking account for the full amount of the loan and interest. Because my account was empty the principle $20.00 did not clear. The $77.00  did. I now have a negative balance in my checking account. They have now referred my account to a dept collector who wants me to make four payments of $89.00 and one payment of $90.00. The only type of payment they will will accept is in the form of a wire money transfer. They want the money wired to; ADP-Offer in the city of Las Vegas. This is all starting to get weird. I think that I've all ready paid too much in interest. I don't know what to do at this point. If I don't send it they will go back into my checking account for money that is not there causing me to owe more NSF fees. I'm at my wits end! Please help me!

SoapLady, thanks for answering my question on obtaining a conlidation Loan to pay off my PDLs.  However, if they are illegal in CT especially the CashCall loan formerly Western Sky.  What is the best immediate approach to contact them and tell them I will like to pay down the prinicpal only.  They still have access to withdrawl from my checking account.

I need advise on what to do next , I paid of an debt and received a letter of satisfaction from the company...I want so send this letter to all three credit bureau to insure this is removed from my credit. My question is do I need to include an addition letter( beside the one I received from the company for satisfaction of payment ) to the credit bureau ?, if so is what should I say in writing or can you recommend a standard format ( template ) of a such letter ?

hi. i was reading your post to other community members and was wondering if you could help me? I currently have my wages garnished, how can i find out which loan is garnishing them? and is it possible to get a repayment plan going and stop the garnishes? i am also changing jobs (just currently had a baby and am taking a part time job instead of working full time. will they still b garnishing my wages? 

I hope you can answer my question. I live in Louisiana and I had a loan with SpeedyCashToday.com. I took out the loan in March and I borrowed $400. I have paid back over $1500. Yesterday they took out $640 and none of their numbers work. Can I get my back to return the debit. I have paid back the principal and much more!

And should I even attempt to call them or just fax Shazzers letter to them and ask for USPS communication.

How can I change my user Id or delete my last question?

I have a judgment issue. In review, the  16 digit OC CC account # ended in "6" and all of the correpondance from the CA and the CRA show the similar number ending in "0", not their internal account tracking number, which is listed but the actual CC number I have from the original statements. I am looking to sell my house and if I could vacate this judgment, I certainly could save any money that would go toward settlement. I know I'm looking for a silver bullet but thought, "maybe it's worth a try?" theEdwardian

Hello:  With patience, tenacity and input from this site, I have been able to move my credit score from 545 to 607.  Thanks.  My plan is to purchase a house as soon as my CR is acceptable.  Please advise which issue I should address first that would have a more positive and faster impact on my CR: 1: paying off a tax lien, 2: applying for higher limits on my credit cards?  (this is my least choice because I do not want inquiries on my CR) or paying off the two collection actts on my. CR.  My debt to income ratio is good, I have 80% available credit.  Thanks again and please continue this great service.

I am responding to the names of the pdl companies that I have while living in the state of Fla.  Star cash processing balance at $760, My Cash now balance at $241, UsFastCash balance at $476, Cash Yes balance $510, and Shop on Line balance $975.  I have been paying on these and finally stopped all together my last paycheck, 14 days ago.  I want to get them paid off but I just wanted to know what my complete obligation was going to be to them?  The only one I have not given any money to was Shop on Line.  They are based out of Delaware. They just wanted to know what and when I can pay on the principal amount of $750.

You seem to have a lot of knowledge and experience, so i am asking you if there is anything that I can do to mitigate my situation. My wife signed my name to a parent's loan on behalf of my daughter who is in school, a student loan for my daughter, so it is now a Department of Education loan. The long and short of it is that we did not pay attention to notices and the loan went into default and I have been notified by FAMS that they will be garnishing my wages to the tune of 15% of my "disposable income". I received notice 3 days ago and notified them that I am seeking a hearing, am preparing the paperwork for the hearing. My situation is that I have a lot of student loans in my name, and yes, I do have MD after my name, and 15% will cause me to not be able to pay my other obligations. I will not bore you with the details, but I am in a lot of debt, and the majority of my income goes toward payment. My daughter's student loan was for $11,000, FAMS added 25% to that. My own student loans were/ are about $150,000, and my wife's credit cards about $100,000. I am hanging on by my fingernails. Your reply is appreciated.

I have made payments totally $236.30, therefore I only owe $563.70 which I intend to pay. I will send a letter outlining the amount I can pay and when I can make the payments. You stated that payday loans are illegal in GA.  I did the loans online, so is that still illegal? Also if I close my bank account, what can they do to me as far as criminal charges?

About 4 years ago HSBC wrote off an account and it was sold to LVNV I requested for the debt to be validated and it never was. LVNV apperantley sold the debt to Atlantic Credit and finance I again Asked to have debt validated and again no answer. Lastly about 2 years ago i received a Letter from weltman weinberg & reis I requested validation and one more time nothing. I havent heard anything else from them since. Equifax and Experian both removed this account from my Credit report but transunion never did. On friday i received a letter from WW&R stating to call them for settlement options. Its been two years i havent heard from them i have copies of all the letters requesting validation from the 3 CA's and the return reciept. What should i do in response to WW&R? How do I report this to the FTC? and if I do report it to the FTC what should the letter consist of ?

I have been dealing with Powell law office in colorado, They called me , and said they sent a letter, I never got the letter, They said they would e-mail me a letter, I never got it. this is from a payday loan from 2008, I told them I would look at documentation and go through my records, I did not get another letter or e-mail. I got another call the other day, the lady said she would send an e-mail, never did. I told them if I did get documenationtion, and did owe debt, I would pay off withen 2 weeks. she transfered me to another man, who demanded $100.00 that day, Told him about arangement if I did owe, said he did not think I could afford arangement, , and is going to serve me. what do I do now Brad

Chase sold the account. EAF claims to be the CA on the account with CIR working hand in hand to represent them in court. I plan to answer my summons but feel a bit lost. I did run my CR and seen them listed/ the account # doesn't match and no proof was attached with the summons.

I have about 5-7 different payday loans now that are KILLING!! me.  It's a vicious cycle and I want advice on how to stop it without getting harassing calls at work (I could lose my job over that!!).. I have approximately $2000.00 in payday loans right now..  What is the best solution for me???

I had a credit card debt with Chase and they reneged on a repayment plan that was agreed upon by both parties.  Now the debt has been charged off and a collection agency has contacted me for repayment.  The debt total is a little more than $20,000.00 and the collection agency has offered to settle for as little as $9,000.00.  They have stated that they know of my other assets.  The assets include a devalued house and a 13 year old motor home that are currently paid up to date.  Can the collection agency do anything to these assets?

hello i have just gotten a letter from RJM Acquistions LLC. about a overdrawn bank checking account from Pittsburg PA. which i would be fine paying if i had ever been there in my life i have lived in only 3 states LA - 2 years after birth, TN - 18 years, WA - 4-5 years. so i was trying to find out what i should do i have never had to deal with anything like this before and so any help would be great THX ahead of time for reading and taking your time :)
