I sold my home through a short sale in which the lender agreed to let me sell at less than what was owed on the house. As far as the debt, I was dealing with credit cards only. I never actually got to settle due to unforeseen events (car accidents, layoffs, you name it) and ended up filing Chapter 7 BK.
