ACS has been calling our home for over a week now. They keep leaving messages for "Roland Carion" who I've never heard of. I tried calling them back at the phone number they left, and told them that they had the wrong number. They said they'd remove my phone number from their list, but a new person keeps calling every day. They call around 8:30 a.m. every morning and today they called at night also. I'm glad I found this forum so now I understand that they are a collection agency, but they obviously have a lot of their facts wrong and don't think twice about harrassing people -- even the wrong people!!!

They are looking for a person called Park Su or so and they don't listen to the voicemail and leave nasty messages.
I am not sure that BBB will do anything, they are probably in India as that happened before. It was an indian calling me every morning as their time difference is about 10.5 hours and she was very up at the time i was sleeping. She used to call including weekends and legal holidays.

I have had you guys call for the last few years looking for this Asian guy Suk Haa( not sure of spelling) and you continue to leave messages for this person and you never get a reply... Well I have had the same number for 7 years and you guys are pretty slow at catching on that you have the WRONG number. I am getting to the point of calling my Legal counsel because this is gone beyond funny. When do you retire a phone number???, Why do I have to call you and leave a Complaint in some voicemail with all this information if I am not the one your looking for. You should just ask for the Phone number called and remove it from your Call database, its simple as that....

A rude, man said his name was ANdy Heart calling from Philadelphia, demanded to speak to my son. I told him he wasnt here. He asked when he would be back I said he was'nt, he is no longer in this state. He demanded I tell him where he is. I told him I dont have a address on him. He asked when I would speak to him again. I told him I did the other day, but he hung up on me. He asked how'd I know it was my son. I informed him I knew it was, I didnt write his number down. He became ugly, more demanding, threatening with each time he told me he needed my sons side of the story or he was going to have to make a decision w/o him & it wouldnt be good. Truthfully he acted alike a detective investigating but I knew he wasnt b/c he refused to tell me who he was calling for & why. I asked him if someone called him wanting info onhis mother if he would give it to him. He said yes & I called him a liar. Again asking who & why, again his refusal & my hanging up on him. What a butt. I have informed all members who answer my phone if the # or one similar shows they have my person to tell them to shove it & hang up.

My girlfriend owes a real debt to Citi that she hasn't paid anything on in over a year. We're not denying this, but the past year has been filled with a lot of psychological turmoil and essentially a total restart of her life, and I won't bore you with the details.
We started getting calls two days ago, which I assumed were from Citi. The first person who called claimed to be from "pre-legal" and tried to negotiate either a large payment (1000+) or more reasonable payments after a very not-reasonable deposit of 500, with lots of talk about how I'm her boyfriend and I can help her out, of course. Meh. Generally professional though there are a few things obviously wrong with that.
I'm a little phobic about collections calls and I know these guys will call as early as possible (I've been working nights so I stay up VERY late) so I've been unplugging the phone. Yesterday I plugged in the phone and got six calls in a row with no response at the other end, with a response finally at the last call. The guy obviously heard me talking during the others because he made fun of me for it. He represented himself as from Legal but claimed to be working to avoid collections. He didn't negotiate but wanted to pass along the contact info since I told them my girlfriend wasn't there. Moreover, the guy refused to say that he was a debt collector or calling in regards to anything business related, the old, "Hi, this is X, is Y there?" routine.
Thanks to this site we've formulated a serious game plan for when these guys call again, and we won't be putting up with harassment, threats or unprofessional behavior. The debt is not terribly excessive and reasonable to pay off on a good schedule, but we have had little contact with them, have behaved professionally and what little we've gotten from them has been pretty lousy.
I'll try to post how it goes...I haven't heard too many stories from people who've sent in Debt Validation letters or letters to stop the phone calls to see whether they've worked.

Citibank and Academy Collection Services' callous attitude ultimately led to my loss of gainful employment when they called my work and harassed my boss. They told my boss I was in litigation with them..! I haven't been served with any papers, and they basically defamed my character.
I recommend contacting your state attorney general and seeing if they have been disciplined in your state, as well as with the Federal Trade Commission. In addition to The Fair Credit Reporting Act, they have trouble following state laws and have been repremended for it multiple times in my state, and probably your state too.
Has anyone else lost a job because of Academy's unprofessionalism? Maybe it's time for a class action.

I got a call from these guys the other day.
Im more than willing to make payments or pay off with a settlement.
After all, this debt is over 5 years old, has been "charged off" by the original company, and Academy services is the 5th company to pick up and try to collect the debt.
Any who, I got to talking to a "supervisor" named Mike Richardson who got very unhappy and pissy very quick.
*I actually agreed to a settlement over the phone.*
YIKES!
When I ASKED Mr. Mike Richardson to MAIL me the contract in writing, he told me that he could fax it. I enlightened him that fax's are not legal documents. He immediately started dropping the F-bomb on me. F this, F that. "You're a stupid mother F'er if you think you're going to have me waste my f'ing time with the slow a$$ f'ing mail."
"Settlement is off. You loose..." he said and hung up.
WOW.
Never in my life have I ever been talked to like that when trying to resolve a problem. Mind you, Ive been pissy with these idiots in the past by hanging up on their ignorant questions and threats. I was nice and very polite this time trying to get this problem resolved and behind me.
What did I get?
An earful of disrespect.
GET THIS! I called back. I listened to the voice opperator.
THERE'S NO MIKE RICHARDSON WHO WORKS THERE.
215-320-0424
212-992-1051
Those are both the phone numbers I got from them on my caller ID.
My State Attourney Generals office has been notified and I am working with a local lawyer about the subject.
Any thing else I can do?

Today I can finally breath easier - after struggling to pay them $790 a month (after 9 months) we are finally done paying! If anyone has someone rude call them do yourselves a favor and ask for a Dawn Carver ... she is awesome ... we came off of some awful medical bills - that is why we were late on our Sears bill. I had one lady scream at me (she called my fil, my brother and other family) she called me a bitch and the whole ball of wax. Dawn Carver apologized and I told her our situation - she helped me set up the plan ... granted making a payment to them that almost equaled another mortgage was hell (I had to get another part-time job) but it was worth getting rid of it.

This number has been calling for me sister who moved out of the country years ago.
The problem is I am a college student who still lives with his parents [free room/board] and we receive several calls a day.
We have told them repeatedly that She doesn't live at this residence, or in this country anymore; but they persist.
It's starting to bother me and my parents, worse yet, they begun getting rude/snotty with us.

And I thought you were all unprofessional because of your complete lack of grasp on the basic rules of grammar and spelling.
But thanks for your words. Come back again real soon, okay?

We found it interesting we started getting calls collecting on an 11 year old credit card we've never owned (Citi-Sears) right after CitiMortgage took over our mortgage (bought from our mortgage company). From what I've read about this number it is a Citi company calling. I think you may find you have the same sort of link to them - either through a real credit card, mortgage, etc. The people could not provide us with a correct address, SS#, etc. We simply have a fairly common name and I think they are fishing and badgering hoping for someone to agree to paying them for something they do not owe just to stop the harrassment. I am calling my elected officials about this practice to see what can be done to stop it. You may want to try the same.

Received numerous calls from thse people for someone who is not associated with my phone number. Tjis AM received a call from some obnoxious person at 8AM asking for this erson. When I told him he had the wrong number he proceeded to interrogate me.."did he move?", "Are you hiding him?". I told him Look, this is not the number for that operson. Ihave received numerous calls from you and others and have told them to stop calling. I told him not to all my number again or I would file harrassment charges with the PA Attorney General's office. What pigs! Do they not understand English???

Academy was calling a cell phone number which belonged to my 9-year-old daughter. Apparently at one time the number belonged to the Charlette person they are trying to collect on. When my child told them they had wrong number they asked her for her name. She told the politely she was not allowed to give her name to someone she did not know. They then asked to speak to Charlette again. Again my child told them no one named Charlette lived in our house. The jerk guy then told my daughter her parents were going to jail and that she was going to lose her home and be living on the street. I talked to the person who told me "No one in his agency would EVER say that to a child." I requested they take my child's number out of their system. The supervisor assured me he did so and that we would recieve NO MORE phone calls from them. Not 20 minutes later my child's phone rings again and they again started asking her questions about Charlette. Lucky for her I recognized the number and I took the call. Not so lucky for the SOB who called back.

They call my business line for someone I have never heard of. I have asked them to remove my name through their channels. This has been going on for months. Two weeks ago, I have sent them a letter with return receipt, left another message to take my number off their list, and informed FTC and local agencies. Lets see if I can get any legal action against them.
