PostPosted: Thu Mar 20, 2008 7:53 am Subject: verbal abuse accademy

I received a phone call from Academy collection agency at 10 am March 20, 2008. The person I spoke to was Melissa Fine. She seemed very nice and willing to help me with my situation. After telling her that I could not make the $600 payment, she told me that every thing on my credit report looked good except this one debt with chase bank. She asked if I had refinanced my home. I told her yes. She asked me why I did not pay the debt with the money. I told her we needed the money to pay for basically are everyday bills. She became angry and abusive on the phone. I was upset that I was not notisfied that the call was recorded --thats when she said you are angry because you dont pay your bills. and other things. I was asked to speak to her manager, Alexis Clark. She told me when I sighn an agreement with Chase I'm automatically signing a contract that allows by law that the conversation be reported. Well, I'm not talking to chase. I'm speaking with Accademy. She would notlet me get a word in, and when I tryed I was told that I was rude. Even said I was acting like a kindergarner. I asked for her managers name, and said I would like to talk to hime. She gave me the name Brian Andrews. She said dont bother because he wont call you back. I did call and left a message, and hopefull that he will listen to the recording.
I do not appreciate beeing harrased like this and yelled at. This was very unprofessional and abusive.

I was told by a credit management company that you should contact the Attorney General's office of your state with the information - what state the creditor is calling from and the person you spoke to. They can be fined for these calls coming to your work as it can put your job in jeopardy.

Ive worked at academy off and on for 12 or so years. Everybody there are money grubbing scum suckers off the street (most) looking to make a few bucks. All the managers are scum bag drug addicts, this is from top to bottom. MY point here is you dont have to LIKE or identify with the people you are talking to, but if your looking to clear up your credit: TALK MONEY, NEGOTIATE and CLEAR UP YOUR ACCOUNT. People are there to make money, and they will negotiate with everyone within reason.

Obviously you can't read dear. Academy has been harrassing people since 2005 according to these posts. "Reason" is not in these people's vocabulary. Probably some truth to what you are saying, they are drug addicts, because people with a clear head don't talk to people the way that they do. Negotiating does not help. They act like people are just millionaires sitting on money and don't want to pay their debts. On the very contrary, most people want to pay their debts, they just have trouble doing so. ACS acts if if their poop don't stink and that everyone else is all sinners because we don't make their money-grubbing salaries. LOL, ACS is the "sinner". It's called "Greed" one the 7 deadly sins. I bet so much pressure are being put on ACS to collect, so much that they must incur a lot of health cost bills of that of their employees of the stress that the employees cause themselves while trying to cause others undue stress. These type of environments scream and kick the words high turnover rate. I don't doubt they hire people off the street. The reason why they are money hungry is because they are losing money. Keep hiring your rude people, keep hiring people off the street with no education or no professional skills whatsoever and with no diplomacy. A company needs money to make money, does it not? Sooner or later, with business practices like ACS, they will run out of money, I fairly doubt that it will take legal proceedings to this this, unless your case actually goes to court...and you WIN the case! Nothing else will work. Money is the very thing that will hurt them as much as it hurts who they are trying to collect from. I bet a lot of them also have credit problems, is that why they are so "money grubbing"?. Classic case of the pot calling the kettle black. In terms of negotiation, negotiation is a 2 way conversation. This is common sense, however, I momentarily forgot ACS has no common sense. My mistake. ACS has turned their dealings into their way or no way. Therefore, I say no way! They can keep calling if they want. They will eventually give up when they are losing money on an account and a much more diligent and prudent company will buy the account. Yes, everything is all about money, money talks, if it is the right amount. If it is not the right amount, then PEOPLE SHOULD TALK, NOT MONEY. Thank you. Rolling Eyes

PostPosted: Mon Jul 28, 2008 6:42 am Subject: SOL CA 4year Written Agreements

Hi
does anyone know if the 4 years applies to when the agreement was made or when the agreement came into default. I'm thinking the answer would be of when the agreement fell into default but can someone confirm?
Thanks,
E

Are you referring to SOL? What state do you live in? SOL generally starts with the date of last payment.

They keep calling my mom's house...which I don't live at and haven't for the past 2 years. I told them not to call that number as I don't live there anymore and I even called them back and left them a message to try and resolve the situation. Instead of calling me at my preferred number, they called my mom's house back and left another automated message. WEIRD! I guess based on this board, I should expect to speak to some rude people to resolve the situation.

My father got a call the other day while I was at church and then immediately called me to notify me of some Federal case, the guy told him QUOTE "We need to discuss something that happened in his office a few days ago" END QUOTE... WHAT??? WTF is that??? How low do these screwballs go? Isn't that a federal crime to inpersonate the Feds?

The best way to get them off your back is to call them back, tell them you will be recording the call, and ask them again to tell you why they are calling. They became "nice" and offered to remove my number from their database as soon as I did that.
