I think it was allied interstate ...something interstate about collecting debt...I had moved to chicago after living in SC for some time ago. Well one day i got a letter from them ...it had a phone number on it and some digits ...for me to call nothing else I was suspicious cause I never heard of them. I thought it was another trick advertising by a credit card company but I called it any how getting another set of digits and another phone number to call. I unfortunately wrote down the numbers wrong after calling the mentioned number so I went back to the original number to retrieve my number again but it was blocked leaving a message that I have already received the numbers for my case. This was bizarre. Today someone from that company called me leaving the numbers again only no phone number to call back too and even at the end of the message said blah blah blah. Now I did just move and did fall behind on a some expenses which are closed as I have moved on, which I have been tracking down and cleaning up but ...my opinion I'll contact those I know I owe money too and pay them ...this agency sounds shady ...to me they are a scam. I haven't talked to them yet though. But from the sounds of it I'm not the only target and I just started getting this.

PLEASE READ-THIS WILL HELP ALL OF YOU!!!!!!

Allied interstate called me screaming and verbally assualted me during the whole conversation.I have been on disability for a year now due to major back surgery.

An associate from Allied Interstate, Kelly Thunder told me "i've been on disability long enough", "It must be nice getting paid for faking an illness", "I'm taking advantage of the government", "I should be sitting down answering phones like she does","I should be standing answering phones if I can't sit" and asked "how could I afford to buy a hot tub?" (my son told her I was in the hot tub one day when she called, which she put in the phone note records to use against me later). And don't bother calling the manager, Doug Myers, to report the abuse. He gets rude and offended that you are supposively "telling him how do his job" and he "has two bosses that do that". He also said "its none of my business what happens to others"(I had told him I didn't want this to happen to anyone else). He said he "might listen to the taped conversation(when I begged while crying) after the other 5,000 things he has to do",and associates there "do what they need to do to get paid"

I immediately wrote down the exact conversation that took place with both of them for my records and sent a letter to A.I (didn't help), Better Business Bureau and I called The Federal Trade Commission. I was told to send a certified(very important to certify it for proof) cease telephone communications letter to A.I. and they are suppose to stop all phone calls to you but "Webster Crowell" called me two more times which I also sued for.

Their Compliance Dpt. is nicer but they say whatever you want to hear and act like the associates are being held responsible when another just calls and does the same thing. At first, I asked Allied Interstate for a letter of apology from the associate and company acknowledging the problem but they weren't willing to do that to make me feel better so I filed a small claim lawsuit on my own at my local court house and without an attorney. A.I. called me and wanted to offer me some money to settle out of court but I declined since it is more about them being held responsible by getting a guilty filed against them and if I accepted, it wouldn't be documented legally letting them get away with it.

I went to court today for the trial and the judge will make a decision within 30 days so she can review all of the evidence submitted. I've never sued anyone before but knew I had tons of evidence to win and it made me feel better to tell a judge what happened.

A.I. hired a local attorney that lives in my state, probably cheaper than flying one out from their state but he didn't have much to say since he had no witnesses to testify. He only had two pieces of paper from A.I. with very brief phone records. No times of calls or full names of the associates who called, just initials-very confusing to the judge. He ofcourse said she denied my accusations and said I was yelling and swearing but admitted the other guy shouldn't have called after they got the cease letter. He had no copy of the tape-that was a surprise, guess it would have all been over then.

I had more records than this huge company.I brought all my complaint letters and responses back, phone records from that day since I called family members hysterical after the call, pictures I took of my caller id with the time they called even though the number came up as 1-000-000-000 (its better than nothing),and certified mail receipt for cease letter. You should document the date, time, name and everything that happened so you don't forget.

Report it to the BBB,FTC and Attorney General's office. The BBB website offers a copy of a complaint filed with A.I. and a link to Attorney General's site with a large lawsuit filed last year where they took A.I. to court for many people-they did it all at the same time or file a lawsuit yourself because this company needs to stop treating people this way or be shut down if they don't stop.

The only way you can make a difference is to take action and if you don't want to do it yourself the Attorney's General will help. Good luck to you all and I will check in and respond to any help that you need. I will post the outcome when I get it.

I received a settlement letter from AI on 11-30-05 that said I owed $766 and that their client has authorized an offer settlement of 80%>Called the toll free number and refered me to Sprint>After calling Sprint I found out it was a case of identity theft >got a fraud packet from sprint and notified AI on 12-06-05 that I was disputing charges>Sprint denied the fraud because my home phone was called from one of the three phones that was given after opening this account>after the denial I called back Sprint for the paper work done on the account; had to go through 4 associates before getting mgmt; to which they said most of it was destroyed>over the phone the rep did say that the account was paid in cash, I replied easier to cover their tracks, he gave some other helpful info on the thief and then I told him if anyone shows up at their store saying they were me for them to show them to the door and that I will never do business with Sprint again..it seemed that the rep saw the proof as I pointed it out to him....I later found out that the thief was a friend of my girlfriend who thinks it's a victimless crime (the thief thinks this), and that she has done it before and got away with it. She opened the account with just a name and over the phone... Being so close to family I haven't pusued the matter and AI hasn't tried to contact me since the Dispute letter was mailed. I haven't seen anything on my CRyet but they may return on down the road but I will be ready for them when they do...

If it is past the SOL I don't believe they can. This company is good for doing that, they also are good for violating fair collecting laws. I would file a complaint against them, but first I would request a debt validation letter from them, and then file a complaint don't waste time by waiting for them to respond to your letter, chances are they will blow it off.. Cornell if I were you I would send them a cease and desist letter telling them to stop calling you and also file a complaint. They should be getting to the complaints by now, it seems they violate enough laws.

Hello. I see I am not alone in being harrassed by Allied Interstate. I receive 2-3 phone calls a day for a Michael. I am not this person, I have stated each time to Allied that I have no knowledge of them. They rudely hang up. I happened to find this while looking up the company. Everytime I call them back, they are rude and hang up on me. I cant get them to give me an address or anything. I did a reverse lookup on the phone number on my caller id- 775-319-1501. I am so annoyed and am tired of putting up with this. I just want it to stop!!

Allied keeps calling to collect a debt from my son jr. The debt is owed by my ex husband sr. My sons ssn does not appear on the debt but they keep calling and asking " if he wants to help his father out" When I tried to call for my son, a college student, the Allied rep. Clint was very rude, screamed at me and hung up when I tried to explain that he can't collect a fathers debt from his son. I have called their Consumer Advocacy Group. What should my next move be?

DW, send a dispute letter in writing mentioning that this is not your son's debt. In case, they pursue some actions you will have proof of your records. Send the letter through certified mail and return receipt requested.

Chris, why are you posting the parent company of Allied Interstate? Is that so others can contact you for the numerous violations Allied Interstate is committing?

Received a letter form Allied Interstate stating that I owe a balance from a phone company that is almost 6 years old. I don't believe I owe this amount but I don't have any records from that far back. Does anyone know what the SOL is or where I can find out?

You should dispute the entry because you are not sure about it. The responsibility falls on Allied Interstate to give you the specifics. Refer them to the FDCAP laws on debt validation. Catch this link for more information

Wow, am I suprised at all the negative feedback for a company I worked for, I just came online to find out their address for a resume and did a yahoo search. But, it doesn't suprise me. I was not one of the employees who used to use illegal tactics to collect but I had witnessed it in person. Yes, I worked for them but if any "debtor" disputed and could provide me proof that they did not owe the debt, I went out of my way to have their names removed from the list. I was one of the companies top collectors and always used tact, negotiation and debt consolidation techniques to resolve my accounts. I wish all those of you who have had bad dealings with them the best of luck. Either they are no longer in business or working under a different name because I couldn't find the address for them.
