Default collector

These people are very rude. They just contacted me and I agreed to what they wanted which was a post dated check. Then she says that is not enough you can not have it both ways. And she was very rude. I told her to sue my butt. However I am going to have to pay it next month. These people are rediculous. At least I am making an effort to pay up. She wanted it right then and there after offering me an option to post date. Well my husband said no way they can wait till next month and just pay in full. No telling how these people will screw me. Any who i would just rather pay avon than deal with these people. Does anyone know what would happen if you just said I am not paying?

Default New number?

We just signed up for digital phone through Time Warner, and received the same message. I returned the call and the girl I spoke to (who was actually quite polite!) said they were looking for someone else. I explained the new phone number situation, and supposedly ours will be removed from the list. We shall see.

Default NASTY people

I've listened to these idiots on my answering machine for the last three weeks. I don't return their calls. They keep calling and being in a crappy mood today, I called the lady and told her to stop calling because if she thought that her calling me everyday was going to make me pay the bill she was nuts. She told me they would NOT stop calling me until I learned to pay my bills! They are NASTY, NASTY people. Told her she could threaten me with whatever she wanted....and to F off!

TO: BLAMING THE WRONG PEOPLE says...I owe this debt-I'll admit that. But I also became very ill and have a daughter who has developed back trouble....so, geez - what comes first? Me and my daughter or my debt to AVON?????? And as far as owing bogus debts...I have people calling my house looking for a spanish family who apparently ran up a bunch of debt & gave MY telephone number that I've had for 20 years. So, now I'm getting phone calls from all kinds of people calling me a liar when I say tell them they've got the wrong number.

Not everyone who gets these calls are in debt. I have never missed a payment for my car, credit card or bills in the thirty two years I have been alive. I have gotten a couple of calls from these people but have never called them back. I have taken great care over the years to keep my credit clean, I think scammers like these should be punished. The message is always that me or my attorney call them back. It sounds like a recorded message and I believe it's a scam.

First off, I'm glad I found this site too. I'm getting the same calls from these idiots and I have already filed a complaint with the BBB. How Avon is involved with this is beyond me, and I highly doubt that Avon would sue someone over trivial amounts of money. Yes, they do have a collection's department, but they're not nearly as bad as these f***wads.

What's happening here is these people are somehow getting hold of people's credit reports and making up false amounts owed. This is a funny coincidence, because I am also getting a call from these people about Gold's Gym and my membership there was supposed to be canceled back in April. Notice they're telling you to go to Western Union? Don't do it, folks. This is a quick way for people to get money in their pockets so that they won't have to work for a dime. Period. Do not send anyone checks, money orders or anything until they give you validation in writing about your debt. They have to list the account number, the exact amount owed, etc. Debt Collection Scam is becoming a threat to consumers and we need to be on the lookout. If you don't get letters from anyone from this company, let your AG know about it so they can begin to look into it.

I did sell Avon for a couple of months, but got out of it when I was charged twice for the last campaign I sent in. I do owe them money, but as a few said here, things happen in life that we can't control, like getting ill or injured. I haven't been able to work since July when I injured my knee and was diagnosed with a chronic illness.

What's funny is the amount they're giving me that I owe is different from the actual amount listed on one of my invoices, so I got them by the balls right there. And I even have the same amount on a letter from Sunrise Credit Services, apparently a creditor company that Avon deals with for past due accounts. Just be patient, guys. This company is going to get what it deserves.

I was bill collector - but these guys practices are horrible & illegal. I haven't received a bill from them so I don't know what they are calling about!!!! Anyway - put a letter in writing to cease all calls and legally they can't call you. You can also get a print out of incoming calls showing how often they call you - u can actually sue THEM. have fun!!

Default They make a deal...

and then forget they made it..to the comment about if you paid your bills they wouldn't call, while this is true i can't agree that the same should be implied when it comes to medical debt...this is a debt that none of us choose to put ourselves in, it happens...if it were credit cards then yes i would say that charging those up was a decision that you make, but medical i feel is a different thing..i did not chose to deliver my 1st son early only to have him pass in my arms hours later, i didn't chose to go into early labor w/my 2nd son, him to spend 117 days in a neonatal unit where his medical bills alone are over $1 million dollars right now..i am unable to work b/c my son has therapies daily, trips to dr's 3 hrs away, i do what i can to get by..i had a agreement with allied data to pay them $10 a month towards my debt, they agreed to this yet they call me constantly claiming i haven't paid when i have the cleared checks to prove it..it's ridiculous to have to be harrassed constantly, at least i am trying to pay it off yet they bug the heck out of you..if you are paying can something be done about them still calling?

former collector,
when messages are left to contact ADC back by noon the next day with an attorney, is that just a scare tactic or should you really call? I've tried to reach them but they seem to not pick up the phone..but for a company that never seems to be open-they sure do call me alot from that business. any advice? Thanks.

Default Avon Account 11-07

I am so happy to read all of these responses.
I received a nasty call from Allied Data about an old Avon account. I called back to ask them if it was legal for them to say that they are going to file judgement against us when we have no record on paper at all of any debt. He said, yes it is legal to leave a message like that for us. He said you have 3 days to take care of or make arrangements for this account. I said, I need documentation. He said we sent something to your address. I said, we have not lived there in over 7 months, there is no forwarding, so we have not received a thing by paper. I asked for him to send it again and he said we cannot. We can only send the paper out once. I told him that we cannot just send out money to anyone who calls. We have thousands of dollar worth of Avon products that we did not return and are stuck with a this point. We took great losses for that company and we worked hard for them for 4 years!!!! What a way to pay us back. Anymore info would be great! I have currently called Avon collections directly; but they have me going straight into voice mail.
Thanks!

Default Allied Data and Better Business Bureau

Well guys, I got many of the same calls you did. They left messages on my WORK phone, ( not personal ) phone saying that i had to call them back by a certain time or else....blah blah blah. They even are calling me on Sunday's. Well before I called them back and gave them any information about myself I wanted to make sure they weren't identity theives and such just trying to get information from me. So I called the BBB in Houston Tx. The lady there told me they had 85 complaints about ADC in the past 12 months....that told me right there this wasn't a real collections agency. If a person owed money to someone, that person would first call you asking for it. They wouldn't turn it over to collections right from the start. Your Creditor would try to get the money they wanted out of you before calling and paying a collection agency to harrass you....I had spotless credit history, and I knew I didn't owe anyone any money. And to be honest, if someone did open an account in my name, my credit monitoring program would catch it....

Hello All.

I am in the same boat with yall. These people calling my house every day, about a dozen times. I never check my messages every day, so tonight I decided to check it. I had numerous messages from those people, talking about called them back by noon the next day or legal action will be taken out on me, and the lady name Mrs. Johnson also said we left you numerous messages, and is sure you check your messages every day, so I dont know why we haven't heard from you, but we need to hear from you very soon..said it with a attitude too! I was steaming, I cant wait until they call tomorrow, which they are..im gonna play their little game with them. I looked this corporation up, and found this site. I saw their original number and called it up, and left this Mrs. Johnson lady a message. I was like I dont know who you are, but I do not appreciate you calling my house leaving threatening messages, for the record yes I check my messages every day, but I dont have to return any calls that I dont wont too, you cant make me..if you think so..TRY Me....I wish that trick would call me bac trying to fuss...lawd have mercy!
