Have you received a recorded message saying:
  • Call back….we are going to make an important decision about you.
    Or
  • Your papers have been sent to our attorney.
    Or
  • Ask your attorney to contact us.

Chances are Allied Data Corp, aka ADC has made the call. Allied Data Corp/ADC is a collection agency and ill-famed of making wrong calls and leaving harassing messages. They do not leave the name of the company or anything. So people get confused about the purpose of the call. They make calls on Sundays also. There are instances of ADC for calling debtors 15 times in a day.

Allied Data Corporation is located @
13111 Westhiemer Suite 400
Houston, TX 77077
Additional business name they use: ADC
RTB Enterprises, Inc

They usually ask consumers to call back @ 800-275-7176 ext 610
1-800-275-7776 ext.609
Their local ph # 281-558-7176
Fax # (281) 497-4097

From the forum posts it seems that ADC breaks fdcpa laws quite frequently. They try to collect the debts that are discharged in bankruptcy, already paid, past SOL. Their most preferred creditor is AVON.

When debtors dispute the debt and send all possible documents stating the debt has been paid already, they usually try to neglect the documents and continue asking for money, for example:

When a debtor sends copies of records that prove the debt was paid to the original creditor, ADC says the consumer might have another account with the creditor. Or, the consumer might have allowed someone else to use his SS#, so he owes the debt and should pay it.

It is suggested to contact the original creditor if ADC calls you. If you have paid the debt to your creditor, ask them for paper works that you can send to ADC. Check your credit report if ADC has made any wrong input there.

Check the report of Allied Data Corporation with BBB. Also check the thread below, someone has posted that ADC accepts settlement up to 48% of the total debt.

Thanks for this information. I really liked the FAQ composed on how to deal with the collection agencies. I would like to use this information upfront in dealing with some of the collector calls.

They have called my dad's house twice today. I dont live with my dad and never have. They told my dad that I put him down as a reference. I have no idea what I would have put my dad down for a reference about.

I had lovely conversations with these sharks last year. When I looked up the information about them on the BBB's website, I was floored at how many complaints these people have on them. It amazes me that they're even in business. Finally I had enough and sent them a cease comm letter via certified mail. Never heard from them again.

This isn't Avon's only collection agency though, btw. LTD Financial LP collects for them as well, and they are just as bad.

Heres hoping you didn't give them your bank or credit card information, if you did watch your accounts!

Iwas contacted by these people at least a year ago collecting for Avon. I had sold Avon for about a year and when I quit I owed maybe $140 dollars and they called maybe 20 days after I quit selling. I paid them all of it. And today I get a call saying "we will make this decision for you if we do not hear back from you" and gave me a number. I have taken care of all my debts and do not owe a thing to anyone. So not positive why I'm still gettin calls unless its for maybe $5 and I sure as h*ll hope they are not trying to collect on that. I just ignore them or call and tell them what I think and I don't receive any calls for a while.

I had a $100 +/- debt with Avon...the messages from ADC were garbled and sounded like they would contact the police. It went to the effect of "we need to contact you about an official police statement." I was worried, and called back...it was debt collections. They refused to stop calling me, sweared at me, and eventually I just called Avon to settle the debt directly - I refused to deal with them, even if they were going to settle for less. I told Avon about my dealings with them, and the lady I was dealing with told me that they have had many complaints about these collectors.

I received a call from Allied Data today. I don't dispute the debt ($102.80) but live on SSDI and told them I could make payments starting next month when I receive my check. The woman told me they would post my account as "refused to pay" and then they would file fraud charges and I would go to jail. I cancelled my first order, they shipped anyway and left the box outside my apartment door. Did I receive the products? I returned the entire box unopened and now 6 months later, I'm being threatened. They can just go and p*(* up a rope.

My Wife quit avon over a year ago. She had a dept of almost $300. We cleared it up with in the next month and then yesterday ADC called saying she owed $28,000 they had her SSN, Birth Date, Correct Address and County(which 911 & UPS cant seem to find), and God only knows what else. With all that information what will they do if you dont pay? SELL YOUR IDENTITY perhaps!

They called my parents home, which I never listed as a number!!! Since I haven't lived there for 11 yrs now. Told them they need to speak with me regarding an important legal matter. Got my parents all upset. So when I finally spoke with someone, of course didn't want to out a payment plan that works for me. Then telling me how I broke a contract with Avon Whe I tried to explain what about the broken contract Avon broke of course that didn't matter. They discuss me thinking this is a legal matter, when it's a debt and hasn't gone to court. I wish I could report them some where.

ADC people are not professional, i am sick and tired of them calling for no apparent reason. Furthermore someone needs to file a lawsuit against that company because of their un-professionalism.

ADC people are unprofessional, they call me because i have the same name as a debtor that they have and I already explained that it's not me because my address and date of birth don't match only the name but they don't care they continue calling. I wish somebody suit them.
