Have you received a recorded message saying:
- Call back….we are going to make an important decision about you.
Or
- Your papers have been sent to our attorney.
Or
- Ask your attorney to contact us.
Chances are Allied Data Corp, aka ADC has made the call. Allied Data Corp/ADC is a collection agency and ill-famed of making wrong calls and leaving harassing messages. They do not leave the name of the company or anything. So people get confused about the purpose of the call. They make calls on Sundays also. There are instances of ADC for calling debtors 15 times in a day.
Allied Data Corporation is located @
13111 Westhiemer Suite 400
Houston, TX 77077
Additional business name they use: ADC
RTB Enterprises, Inc
They usually ask consumers to call back @ 800-275-7176 ext 610
1-800-275-7776 ext.609
Their local ph # 281-558-7176
Fax # (281) 497-4097
From the forum posts it seems that ADC breaks FDCPA laws quite frequently. They try to collect the debts that are discharged in bankruptcy, already paid, past SOL. Their most preferred creditor is AVON.
When debtors dispute the debt and send all possible documents stating the debt has been paid already, they usually try to neglect the documents and continue asking for money, for example:
When a debtor sends copies of records that prove the debt was paid to the original creditor, ADC says the consumer might have another account with the creditor. Or, the consumer might have allowed someone else to use his SS#, so he owes the debt and should pay it.
It is suggested to contact the original creditor if ADC calls you. If you have paid the debt to your creditor, ask them for paper works that you can send to ADC. Check your credit report if ADC has made any wrong input there.
Check the report of Allied Data Corporation with BBB. Also check the thread below, someone has posted that ADC accepts settlement up to 48% of the total debt.
