This forum is full of help for people dealing with payday loans. What companies do you have the loans from? What state are you in? Please give more information about your debts and we will be able to suggest on your next step.

Have you tried seeing if these people are licensed in your state, if you got the payday loans from the internet that is. If you did, I bet none of them are licensed. Check it out with your state, a good place to start is with the attorney general's office.

Cool, looks like all internet to me. You can do this and come back! Only one that MIGHT be licensed is CashNetUsa. Where are you located at, now are these the total amount that you have paid so far?

Cashnet USA is licensed . . . . You can find out if the others are licensed by going to paydayloaninfo.org, clicking on your state, and then there will be a link to a licensee database.

Why is it important to know if they are licensed in my state? Advance Cash is a store front so I am sure they are licensed. The amounts listed are the amounts I currently owe. I have calculated how much I have paid these companies.

Because if they are not licensed, they shouldn't be doing business with you, period, gives you grounds to fight them, I should also suggest you file some complaint with attoreny generals in your state and their state also, heck, I found most of mine were not even licensed in their state!

Thanks for the information. After checking into the licenses, where do I go from there?

As TweedleDee said - File those complaints . . . You also need to calculate what you legally owe on these loans, as most internet companies will over charge you.

Your priority should be the storefronts, as they are usually legal and can and will take you to court over the debt.

I cannot stress this enough, check to make sure they are licensed in your state as well as their state of operation. Most are not even licensed in their own states! If this happens, they are breaking the law in two states. These companies need to be brought to justice because they are nothing but loan sharks. Filing complaints will help you on your journey as well as bring them to the attention of the attorney general. These places don't like that and will usually cave in a little more. Also, if you have paid excessive finance fees, I would suggest calucating that into the principle of the loan amount if your state does not allow rollovers. You don't want to give them anymore money than you have to!

I'm just reading other threads reading how other states are now stepping up and going to bat for the consumer. I think that was made to happen because the consumers in those states did complain and they complained in numbers and loudly. DO NOT ever think that you are only one person, one person can make a difference, and one more complaint adds to the other growing numbers. It is time to take a predatory industry and take them down, or at least limit their profits substantially by limiting the interest rate they can charge consumers! That will run them out of town!

I am going to look further into this. I can now see that ignorance is not bliss, it is actually pretty painful.

When you sit down and figure out how much you have paid out in illegal charges to unlicensed companies, the pain is almost unbearable, that is when you stand up brush it off and take action! YOU CAN DO IT

All 6 PDLs I have are licensed in Arizona. Because they are licensed does that mean I can try and negotiate a settlement? Of the 6 I have 4 of them I have had for more than 6 months. Should I request refunds on the ones overpaid or just inform them I will no longer pay them? My loans are due tomorrow but I have already put stop payments on the checks. I was thinking about working with a settlement company but I think I can do this myself, any advice?
