Your favorite bank?

I'm with chase/jp morgan right now but i'm getting sick of their horrible customer service. I'm thinking about switching banks but i'm not sure which to choose or look into. I sell furniture through ebay so I would prefer one where I can do online banking so its easier to keep up with orders. A debit card that is able to charge more than $400 at a time would be a plus too, something chase is really lacking right now.

Bank of America is actually a pretty great option if they're local for you. Then again if you're doing more online than needing to be at a branch, BOA will open an account (the MyAccess, I do believe), for anyone regardless of location.

Their limits are pretty high for spending and you can always call and let them know you need it raised if necessary for a specific purchase.

I've always been a fan of them despite, a lot of the garbage people go through, for awhile I was totally against them but they've managed to stay big for a reason.

It's a worthwhile option and I love their online banking, you literally can login online, over the phone or use their ATM's (they're a lot of fun to use haha) and the information is their in a flash.

Just a thought! GOOD LUCK!!!! Smile

I recently got an account with Woodforest Bank, actually it wasn't TOO recent, it's been about 9 or 10 months now. I went through the unauthorized debits from pdl's with them, and NSF charges, etc., etc., and they were very efficient and understanding with the problems I was having at the time. I ended up having to close out my account, but opened a new one (with them) at their suggestion. They seemed very experienced and knowledgable with the pdl trap, and how to take quick action to handle it, all legally. They have a GREAT online service plus overdraft protection programs available. I'm very pleased with them so far, and they were easy to get an account with. So, if you're looking for a new bank and there is a Woodforest Bank near you, I would recommend them anytime. Best of luck to you! Smile

I am happy with Bank of America as far as the local branch goes but I find their 800 customer service people poorly trained. I prefer my local credit union. They try harder.
In the past whenever I would find a new bank that I liked they would be aquired by a bigger one that I didn't like. My boss swears by Wachovia. He is the company owner and has his commercial and personal accounts there.

I can't agree more with Frog, credit unions generally give better service especially better than a "big bank"

Navy Federal Credit Union

not a ig fan of BofA

I had a payroll check from company I was working for in california. Went into a branch office and they wouldn't cash it. "it was written from a BofA in another region. I had to open an acct to cash it, what a crock. "we have no way of verifying the funds are there sir. "it is from your own bank" that one experience has turned me off of BofA

USAA federal saving bank is really good to

I have heard so so many great things over the years about Navy Federal Credit union. USAA was our bank personally for years. They no longer open accounts for non-military cumstomers. Now they are starting to deny memberships / accounts to people not because of chexsystems but due to EWS. The same thing that worries me about BOA, I am terribly afraid the day will come that they will close accounts because of EWS or chexsystems. They now use both.

have you looked into local banks, I use a local bank and they will bend over backwards for you if your a good customer. Mine has service fees all the usual stuff but they always waive them for me and they order my checks for free also

Honestly, I can't stand any of them. They all start out great and then they turn out no better than the last one. Out of them all, WAMU is my least favorite.

I have a million reasons why I feel this way but I could write a book.
Here's a few:

WAMU: I had an ID theft situation years ago-they treated me like scum and it took forever for me to get my money back. They are no good for ID theft problems.

Bank Atlantic: They put ridiculous holds on my payroll checks. Even though I have been depositing them for years. Luckily I now have direct deposit.

Wachovia: So far has been OK. My husband unfortunately had some checks written to him by an employer that was returned NSF-bounced several checks and the fees added up. We told them this was the first time this happened and that we would go into the branch a few days later with cash to catch it up. They harrased the heck out of us for the next couple of days and threatened to close the account if we didn't pay it right then. WOW, they were understanding.

That is my rambling on banks. Rolling Eyes

I have been using Myaccess with BOA and am pleased with it so far. I do really like all the online features that I have, I can link everything to my online banking account, 401K, credit cards, frequent flyer miles, everything. It is great to just log into the one site and have access to everything. I have had problems in the past with overdraft fee's but ever since then I am very vigilant in always making sure that I have enough cash before spending it and I have not had a fee in a longtime.

I live in PA, and I bank with NorthwestSavings Bank. I really love their service. I live in a small town, so 'everyone knows everyone'. All the employees, in the 'town' bank know me and I get great rates and service from them.

I love US Bank. I heard lots of horror stories about this bank and was afraid to open an account. But, after i did I was pleasantly surprised. They have been nothing but great to me. Love thier cash back debit card program, and lots of options at thier ATM machines like stamps, and pre-paid cell phone minutes! Also like that you can pick your own design when you order your debit card. kinda cool.

US Bank is a good bank as long as you keep your account in good standing. They have helped a lot of people on chexsystems as well.
