Bank of America Does Not Care About YOU!

On Saturday I ran to the stores and picked up a couple things we needed. Then I realized that I was using the wrong debit card and overdrew my account by a few dollars. I called BOA the next day, Sunday, and was told that making a deposit was not going to help as the it would not post until Tuesday! I was advised to call customer service at that time and they would help with the NSF fees. So I did. I got this nice woman who understood and she said she would reverse the 140.00 in charges. She even gave me my new balance as 5 dollars and change. I thanked her and was so happy. I told her she made my day because now my wife won't tell me what a careless jerk I was. The next day I looked at my balance on line and it was negative 136.00. I called BOA again and told them the story. This was the supervisors response.
"There is no record of your call and we do not refund charges if it was not the banks fault. The person you say you spoke with could not possibly have reversed those charges as they had not posted until this today."
I asked her if she thought was right that her person told me this and was it fair to charge a person 140.00 for a 3 dollar overdraft. Her answer. "It is not the banks problem."
They could not care if you close your account or post stories like this about them. They are a heartless corporation typical of what gives American business a bad name. I will return to a credit union or small bank the next chance I get and I hope one day the reat of Americans will have enough of this greed and do the same! I am done with them!

Frogpatch...(true story)...at the time, I lived in FL, had an account with a bank which ended up being bought by BOA. I HATED the customer service (or lack there of)...changed banks, went to Barnett...well, a year later, THEY were bought by BOA...sigh...I moved north and went with Fleet...about a year or so later, THEY were bought out by BOA...(BTW, I loved Fleet)...well, we moved to Illinois...decided we had enough BS from BOA, and moved our accounts to LaSalle. YOU GUESSED IT!!! YUP! BOA bought them too! I can't seem to escape them...it's as if they know where I bank and them buy them!! LOL

I would suggest you call the 800 # again and if that doesn't work, try the manager at the bank. I've had good luck using one method when the other doesn't work.

Best of luck!

I had a PDL mess once and spent almost a year searching for the right person at BOA and finally found someone who straightened the whole mess out. That is why I stayed. This person warned me that they would be watching my account carefully and to be sure it did not become overdrawn. Now I am afraid to go back to him! The person I spoke too at the 800 number was a supervisor who I asked for after the previous person would not help me.
I beleive your story about your banks being gobbled up. When I lived in NJ that happened to me. Big fish ate little fish and bigger fish ate big fish and huge fish ate bigger fish! But it was Wachovia not BOA. They put me in Chex whan I had a fraudulent series of withdrawals.

Trying calling again, a different time. I believe BOA has several call centers and you might get a different supervisor.

Otherwise, do you think the branch can help you?

I recently closed our bank accounts at BOA, mostly because I owe them money for credit cards and I didn't want them taking money out of my bank account to pay the overdue credit card bills. But we went with a much smaller bank that is only in two states I think. It's so nice to have people recognize you when you walk in the bank and have people personally respond to you when you have a problem. Banking with them is not nearly as convenient because the bank is not as close, the online bill pay is not as fast or easy, etc., but it's worth it. After being with BOA for nearly twenty years, they didn't even bother to ask why I was closing my accounts when I went into my local branch and closed them!

My first job was as a teller, and customer service was drilled into us, so I guess I have a preconceived notion of what I want in customer service. BOA does not give good service.

I find that they are great at the branch level most of the time! There phone people are all over the place. Problem is if I call back they have my last call noted although they did not note my first call!

GOSH!!! I'm SOOO sorry to hear ya'll are having problems with BOA. I don't have them, as a bank, bu..I know people who do. Doesn't sound like they help much, do they? My bank is Northwest Savings Bank. They are wonderful if I'm having any problems with anything. If ya'll have NWSB in your area, I HIGHLY reccomend them.

I agree, BOA sucks. I did not have any luck with speaking to people at the 1-800 numbers when I was going through my payday loan mess. I finally spoke to someone at the branch I opened the account with and she helped me. I ultimately closed the account though.

Absolutly serious - They have actually been a lifesavor for many people that have been reported to Chexsystems from other banks.

They are one of the few nationwide banks that people on Chex can usually get an account with.

There is a difference between getting an account and wanting an account with them.. You pay the price by banking with them. Their customer service is horrible. Don't get me wrong, there are some employees who are great, but overall, it's disappointing.

I have an account with them, and have for years. I've had no problems, and in my experience their customer service has been great. They've researched a bunch of things for me in the past, and always responded quickly.

I've had much worse experiences at other banks. For me, BofA is a good bank, and I would recommend others to them, and in fact do refer people to them everyday.
