Checking charge off or close account?

Your account status is being depicted in your report just the way your creditor reports it to the CRAs. I don't think your closing the bank account beforehand will make any difference.

As far as I know, you will have to payoff your outstanding balance. If you want to close your bank account, then the bank may ask you to repay the outstanding balance. If it is not possible for you to payoff the balance, then the bank may charge off your account and assign it to a collection agency.
