I've had a few accounts go into chex systems (I think..they were overdrawn and referred to a collection agency. I've paid one of) and I have been turned down by banks before upon trying to open an account.
I decided to try and apply for a checking/savings account through Wells Fargo and I was approved! I was surprised but pleased. Now I'm nervous that they'll close it due to finding out about my other accounts. Don't they check all of that before approving you? Or should I still worry?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you should still worry. Many times within 30 days they will send you a letter in the mail stating that they are closing the account. Once you reach the 60 day mark you are definitely in the clear but don't be getting too comfortable yety.

If they do that, will they try to keep the money I have in the account?
Hopefully it's not an issue but I want to be prepared

No, they'd close it and mail you a certified check with the value of the account(s). After 30 days it is less likely they will close it but they would not keep your money that would be stealing... :)
