I hear a lot about people who are or have been on chexsystems.
From what I understand the listing falls off of chexsytems after 5 years provided the debt was paid and there was no fraudulent activity involved.
What if it has been 5 years the debt wasn't paid and fraud was involved (writing checks on a closed account)
I know of someone (not me I swear) who claims to be in this situation but was recently able to open an account and I am curious as to how.
Thanks

Your report will be removed after five years even if it is not paid. If it is not removed then you simply send chexsystems a letter and request that it be removed becuase the five year period is up and they will automatically remove it.
As far as getting an account, yes it is possible to get an account on chexsystems ...your options really depend on where you live.

Yes I can second that. I was in chexsystems and was able to open an account. Sometime what they may do is monitor your account to make sure it is consistently in good standing. It is something to definitely look into banks in your area. There may be conditions to go along with this, but it is worth helping you get back on track.
