huntington bank

just got off the phone with them. owe them a decent amount of money that i wont be able to pay back for awhile. said they'd keep the account open for a couple weeks to allow me to repayment, i said i won't be able to pay then. i said put a hard debit block on the account, they said they cant. i say what happens if i just leave it. they say it'll be closed, sent to a debt collector and reported to chexsystems. i'm leaning towards just forgetting about it and being reported. i'm to the point where i'm tired of worrying about this as a debt and am thinking of just writing it off as a bad debt. what do you guys think?

There are many situations the same as yours. Many people wind up reported to chexsystems the exact same way. I would advise you to open a new checking account right away before you are reported.

OMG, I have the same situation. With Huntington, I too called the today and was told the same exact thing. I told them I can't 1/2 which is what they need by weeks end to keep the account open. I was just about to post about it when I spotted your post. I have a question...I have another checking account with Chase that I've had for years, will it be in danger and also what all does "chexsystems" effect? She told me it could effect such things as car loans even, is that true?

i think it just affects opening a bank account and writing checks in retail stores.

well it could affect a car loan i guess since you'd be writing a check for it, right? not sure though.

Chexsystems doesn't affect you writing checks. Chexsystems is used by banks, not retail stores and such.

Also, it doesn't just affect your account opening. Some banks do sweeps, and will periodically check their accounts for new chex reports.
