I tried to open a savings account at National City today but because I'm in chexsystems they wouldn't even open a saving account for me? Is that the norm at most banks? I'm receiving checks written on a National City account and they charge me $10 every time I cash one. I'm also going to be receiving some checks from other banks and I don't know how I'm going to get them cashed. Any suggestions? Thanks!

yes it is normal for most banks that use chexsystems to deny a savings account as well as checking. I suggest you look for an account at a bank that doesn't use chexsystems

they also use EWS as well as chexsystems. SO even if you qualify for the second chance checking that they offer there, they will close it later if they find out that you have been reported to EWS
