Perhaps we should all contact Dan on his cell phone to express our displeasure at this change in policy.

Hi MCA. I contacted the Customer Service phone number and flat out told the representative that I heard they were using Chexsystems on active account and freezing or closing account reported to Chexsystems. I further advised that if that was the case they might as well close my account now to avoid the work in doing such. The representative told me that they do not do that. Have you heard from people that they are closing accounts due to sweeps? Just want to make sure before I close my account that I love so much!

In my opinion people should give a collective (signatures rom the group) declaration to the chief of the bank to protest the move in their policy.Collective effort will only work for a better reason.

Hi there , yes there have been some people that have had accounts, both personal and business accounts with them that were closed over a year later.

Apparently the problem started when a person named Jeremy paid a company called GoChecking for help in finding a bank due to his chexsystems report. As it would turn out, GoChecking sells my lists exactly and even has been known to send customers my PDF files. Anyhow, what they ended up giving him was the information and application to TAB. he got really mad and told them he wanted his money back and that they were a scam. I guess they did not want to refund him so he then in turn called TAB and made a complaint about this company selling their application. GoChecking was not selling the application as Jeremy had stated but they were using this company as a " guaranteed account" and would send the information for it to all customers.

Once the higher up people at TAB were informed of this, they decided to not only use chexsystems now but to also go back and check older accounts. In the first few weeks, many accounts were closed. Some over a year old. I have not had any recent emails from customers in the last month or so saying that more were closed but that doesn't mean that it is still not happening. Unless someone emails me, there is no way for me to know. My guess is that it has slowed down now or they have stopped running checks on older accounts completely. Most banks are desperately in need of new deposit accounts. It made no sense for them to go back and close accounts that were in good standing that long just due to a chexsystems report. The customers had already established a good relationship and had no issues. I am guessing that they were looking for customers that they believes perhaps were those that obtained an application from GoChecking.

I personally emailed the person above "Dan" and he never responded back but I did inform him that 2 supervisors there at TAB had previously emailed me stating that " they did not use chexsystems at this time" I also told him that under those circumstances I thought it to be unfair that they were closing accounts for chexsystems reasons.

WoW... I have a TAB Checking, and had been hoping to switch to one closer to areas my husband travels so this is great info. Perhaps it is time to switch for sure. Last thing i need is for them to freeze our account with all our money invested in that 1 account.

So far it seems the account closures have slowed down but for a little while there they were closing MANY of them (both personal and business accounts) It was a disaster. I am guessing that you are good or it would already have happened but it never hurts to have a "backup" account and never have all of your money in one place
