Does anyone think that it is worth filing for bankruptcy just over past medical bills alone?

I just read a Harvard study that stated that over half of all bankruptcy filings were due to past medical bills. The even crazier part to it is that of all of those, over 70% thought they had good medical insurance!

It'd depend upon the debt amount and the financial condition of the person. And, unfortunately the Harvard Study is right about the cause of high bankruptcy rate in USA.

It is true that most of the people do get bankrupt due to high medication cost but health insurance is one of the solution for that, second one is medical tourism.

when i filed the bulk of my debt was medical reasons and i really do have good insurance (compared to other insurance out there). looking back i did have other options, i suppose, i was just so scared and did not know what to do or how else to handle these bills (they were about four times my yearly salary). i did have some credit card debt and payday loans, which i included. but in my opinion, i do not regret filing.
