I have been considering Debttree of Fort Worth, TX. I looked up BBB rating and its D-. I read through why they received that rating and they have zero compaints and not registered with BBB. Why does BBB rate a D if there are NO complaints filed? Do you have any info on this debt settlement company?

No, I don't think that they should be illegal, but I definitely think that they should be regulated. Just as any bank in the US is regulated to insure that the consumer is not being taken for more than what is necessary. These lenders are out to make a buck, just like everyone else, but in these economic times there are many people who want a quick buck to pay a mortage or electric bill and will take out these loans not really thinking of the long term effects. The fact that these loans can and will roll over numerous times which is the easiest for the consumer - only pay $150 now....I can still pay for groceries this week, but if I pay it off (knowing it's the smart thing to do) I won't be able to feed my kids this week or I won't be able to pay the mortage. There are many arguements to both sides - legal vs. illegal - but regulating them would allow the consumers interest to be represented.

My husband is unemployed and we have quite a bit of cc debt. I keep seeing all these place that say they can lower your debt 50-70%. I do I know which ones are legitimate or is a scam. We really need help in this area. Before when he was employed, I was making enough payments (most of the cards were interest free for 12 months) to pay them off in one year. Now I can only pay the minimum. Also, not sure if this is the place to do this, but my husband is also has no medical insurance. We have been trying for two months to get insurance with no success. Is there any insurance companies out there who do not require medical questions?

Thank you.

Their master contract also apparently includes secretly notifying zombie sol expired collectors (asset acceptance) to start sending you letters like "oh i see you are trying to obtain a mortgage or refinance you current one, perhaps you can bla bla bla" they weren't in the inquiry section - but they sure knew about it - how is that?

By and large most of the population have been effected by the economic downturn, but the bigger issue is where is this country headed in the future! This recession is not your typical text book recession. Unlike recessions of the past, eventually the economy turns the corner, and over time returns to a healthy robust state. This down turn is different in the fact that the jobs that were once supporting our ways of life are for the most part gone, most of them over seas, never to return. Jobs like manufacturing, computer engineering, software support, finance etc have found homes in various countries that are on the growth curve and not the decline curve. When this country does turn the corner, what will be there to support the millions of unemployed individuals who through some fault of their own, like Boeing employees for example, have priced their jobs and futures away. The price/value spiral that all of us were involved in is gone and in the short run not likely to return anytime soon. Its time to plan on new technoligies/business factions if were are to move forward.

I think that is absolutely wrong of Experian! How can we try to manage our credit if we can't access information that we have a right to. This is just one more thing to hurt individuals that would depend on that information to try to get themselves out of debt and improve thier credit scores. I think we have enough hardships already. Experian should not be allowed to do that!
