SusieQ | 30 Sep, 2008 11:30:54 AM All of my contact with them has been by mail or phone; I send emails back and forth with my rep, but I don't think they have a website per se. I like that I can actually talk to someone, and there is always someone available. Their phone is 1-866-896-7616, toll-free. For more information, you can just type in Superior Debt Services in the "search" box at the top of this site's pages, and a whole list of things will come up that you can click on and read. Be sure you are looking at the right Superior, the one in Fort Collins, Colorado. Try to check out as many debt settlement companies as you can, if you feel you want to do a settlement, because they can be different in what they offer. I liked this one because they explained everything, answered all my questions (I had prepared PAGES of questions) and also pay for the credit repair service when you are done with the program. There is always someone available to take my call and offer information or advice. Even when my rep, Priscilla, is out of the office, there are other reps that know enough about my case to be able to help. They do charge 15% for their fee, though, (I think that's fairly standard) so be sure to ask what your monthly rate will be and be sure you can afford it. For me, it was about a third of what I was paying on minimum payments on the cards, so it was worth it. After my October payment, I will have three of my nine accounts settled, including two of my biggest. That is pretty good for the first nine months! The mods might be able to point you in the right direction also. If you are in one of the forums, they are usually listed across the bottom of the page in orange lettering.
SusieQ | 24 Sep, 2008 09:04:42 PM I am using Superior Debt Services. There is another company that goes by the name of Superior, but I think they are bogus. Mine is out of Fort Collins, Colorado. I stopped advocating the name because there has been a recent poster named Tom321 that has nothing but bad things to say about settlements, and anyone who claims to have had a good experience are called plants, liars, or stupid; and are ridiculed and made fun of. He claims that all settlement companies are scams. So a lot of us that have positive things to say are backing down for awhile, and hope he goes somewhere else eventually for his abusive kicks. That said, settlements are not for the faint-hearted. Harassment by collectors is intense, especially for the first few months (caller ID comes in real handy!). The very nature of the programs require that you settle one account at a time, so it is not unusual to be sued by a creditor not willing to wait. This is not the fault of the settlement company, it's just inherent in the process in general. If you only have one or a couple of accounts to settle, it's probably best to do it on your own. I had nine, from a business that I had to close, and felt I needed professional help to sort it all out. Superior has done a super job for me, but it is different for everyone, depending on your situation. I suggest contacting one of the moderators of this forum and ask for a list of recommended companies that you can check out yourself. Just keep in mind, that every company out there, including McDonald's or Walmart, has some complaints. Just keep it in perspective, and look at the thousands of clients these companies have, and the percentage of RESOLVED complaints. Also, the very nature of the industry - with clients that are in a whole lot of trouble to begin with.
SusieQ | 24 Sep, 2008 10:56:55 AM I typed out an answer and sent it to you, but my computer did some odd things and I don't think it got through. Let me know!
