It bounced and my electric got turned off anyways and then I had NSF fees to pay to the bank and the company. Have you tried talking to the company to see if you can get an extension?

Writing a bad check on purpose is against the law...and can have serious complications. Additional fees at the bank, and added from the utility. If your check bounces they will still turn it off...and now you will owe more plus sometimes they will insist on an additional deposit.
Have you called and asked for assistance?? Also there are several agencies that may be able to help you.

Mine I bounced inadvertantly. Did not realize that my bank had put a three day hold on my deposit. I had to go in with cash to get it turned back on. Thankfully they were understanding and seeing I had never done that before they did not charge me the reconnect fees but I had their $25 returned check fee and my banks $35 charge for NSF which was bad enough.
