His attorney registration number is 15130. Also file complaints with the Federal Trade Commission and the American Collectors Association. Scott still plays a very active roll at Collect America even after the sale. He and his wife Texie Robins Lowery recently purchased a new home located at 201 Gore Creek Drive, Vail, Colorado 81657. sure, people get into situations that can create difficult times. why run to credit card companies? no body put a gun to your heads. i promise you that you people had other options, yet you RAN for that avail credit to bail you out. i don't understand why people think they should be entitled to NOT be harrassed for owing money. like you need a 4000 sq ft. house, 3 cars and 4 different sets of prada purses. get real. like the guy said earlier in this post. LIVE WITHIN YOUR MEANS. read you the contracts you sign, and when the time comes to pay the piper, don't whine.

i just saw collect america did an inquiry on my credit report, yahoo-ed the name and found this link. i have to say its kind of scary, im 18 years old and got f-ed over by my FIRST CREDIT CARD company, i called them and said i will pay for what i used but im not paying all your bullshit charges so take them off, they said no so i said fu-k you im not paying a cent now. so i guess now im having to deal with collect america soon.

they dont have my phone number because i gave the credit card company a cell phone number i got rid of in november of last year.so yay for no harassing phone calls, because you dont want to hear what i would say to them!

With your 'your the idiots who didnt pay your bill' shit, one day in your lives or your child's someone will die, or get cancer, or loose there job and not be able to get a new one, and they will end up in debt, and then you will feel like shit, and i laugh and smile at that fact.

anyways what i want to know is are they really going to sue me for less than 500 dollars in debt? thatd be dumb because i know it costs way more than that just for attorneys fees and shit!lol and since i am 18 and have a part time job whilst in college id laugh if they tried to pull there bullshit on me hahaha.

CA has hired some lawyer with "Rennefield and Associates" to harass me. I owed 1,100 and sent in half of it at one time. Now they are threatening me for the other half, and it was only 2 wks ago that I sent the first half in. It's made me WAY behind on my house pmt, and I have GOT to catch up or else with the house. I need to get a better feel for these people...he acts like it's send it today or ELSE. I will send it, but I just can't do it all at one time. It was from a credit card.

I just won my court case against CACV. They had no leg to stand on. CACV is a predatory or scanvenger debt collector that preys on the nieve consumer or they thought the consumer was nieve. Consumer's have lots of rights! There's lots of public information for consumers on how to defend yourself in case you get sued! CACV attacks without researching the accounts they buy. Their employees are incompetent and use all kinds of scared tactics to make you pay up. By incompetent, I mean they commit illegal acts of fraud and present the evidence to the local court thinking that their evidence is legit. If you have old paperwork kept somewhere about a credit card company sued for adjusting a fixed APR--you will win your case--guaranteed! CACV uses notaries from the State of Colorado that commit fraud. Be careful!! I am ready to fight again. Very Happy

They are a debt buyer and they like to have their accounts worked on by Collection firms like John P Frye, CIR Law, Cambece Law, Bronson & Migliaccio, Etc...
They do file suit once in a great while but for the most part these companies are just collection firms masquerading as Law offices. I would not settle accounts with them for anything higher that 50%, and the later in the month you offer them the deal the better your chances for a deal. Watch out some of these guys are very rude and abrasive. Good luck.

First, Collect America's "lawyers" are franchisees of the CA company, they are basically collectors too, not lawyers hired by CA, but lawyer who are in cahoots with CA. I was in the same boat as these "debtors" due to ID theft. So yeah, to the stupid, amoral, hateful collectors who posted here that us "debtors" are so horrible, you are evil. Yeah, shame on me for being a victim and and having to spend the last 5 years in misery because of harassment from collectors, who are as much lowlife scum as the person who charged debt in my name. I hate people like you, you're liars and despicable slimy thieves. You are so much worse than you say these poor people who got in over their heads or had their ID stolen are. Maybe 10% of the people who are being harassed by evil scum collectors are in debt because of greed. I sincerely hope you end up the same position one day and waste years of your life and thousands of dollars trying to get out of an impossible situation, just like I did. Then you can see what it's like.
