Hello everyone,

It has been a short while since I have been on here.I recently had an experience with someone using my information and gaining credit then not paying it.
Now here is the funny part. The company located me and called to collect. I explained that One: I did not live in the vicinity of the alleged debt ever! Two: the social that they have has been inverted and not mine. Three: I never received services from them. and Four: I was not the person they were looking for.

Low and behold, I get a collection letter and nasty phone call afterwards and go through the ritual again. Now I called the AG office and informed them of the treatment I was given and the Name, Address, Phone number, Fax Number and person spoken to. I just received a letter from the AG showing what transpired between them and the business. I now have this off my record and an apology letter in my hand.

The moral: stick to your guns, stay firm and initiate any help from offices such as the AG office that you deem necessary to get these people to listen.

Thanks for the awareness.. I was thinking if someone was trying to steal your identity and open fake accounts in your name. Keep a check on your credit report regularly and avoid any such possibilities.

I am glad that everything turned out positive for you. If these negative remarks had entered in your credit file, the company would have caused serious harm to your credit identity. Thankfully, you were able to resolve everything in the first place.

This is why you should pull your credit report at least once every 6 months. I would reccomend doing it every 3 months.

Yup, pull your credit every three months to ensure the colection agencies are not trying to scam you.

You should have been notified before they even had access to your reports!!!
