United Pay Services is using the number 305-433-8368. They had previously been using 908-212-3726 under the name of "United Legal Investigations Bureau" (the number is now disconnected). I called and spoke with "John Catler" at both numbers. There is absolutely no connection between these phone numbers and ANY legitimate debt collection service. The only service these people provide is to separate you from your money - for no legitimate good reason...

This is not a legitimate operation. DO NOT negotiate with these individuals. Immediately report any incidents with them to the Federal Trade Commission and your states Attorney General's office.

I got a call this morning at 7:30 and this so call officer stated he was calling in regards to an account I had in collections and that it was something legal being put against. He knew all of my personal info even my previous bank which I have closed. He stated I need to pay $800 or I would be arrested or my home and job would be in jeopardy. He did wanted me to send the money via western union but I went ahead and called the original lender and they stated I should not send any money to anyone unless it was the collection agency they reffered me to the collection agency company but I am now waiting on a call back from them. In the meantime what do I do he stated he would transfer my case to the state of new jersey and my local police dept.

It similar to pay day loan. All I got was $300 put directly into my bank account for an emergency back in september and now this khon artist is saying I have to pay $800 and that this includes all types of different fees. I am just afraid because I am currently out of work on disabality due to a back surgery and what can happen. But I am awaiting on a call from the collcetions agency.

To everyone who has a payday account past due...YOU WILL NOT BE ARRESTED and believe me, you will laugh at this situation one day. I have been threatened numerous times by these collectors. I went so far as to call the sheriff and ask if such a thing could happen. He said no. Even if you literally wrote a bad check, you cannot be arrested. The only way you could wind up arrested is if you are sued, you don't show or you fail to honor any judgement...something like that. Even that situation, he said, is rare. Most often they will just try to garnish your wages.

One of the best defenses though is to turn the tables on the lenders. Are payday loans allowed in your state and is the company you received the loan from licenced to lend in your state? If not, you just craft a letter to the payday company and file a complaint with the Attorney General. They will cease all collection activity pretty darn quick. I had 4 like that because I did not know Payday loans were illegal in my state.

they got me for my money...i didnt get a chance to even investigate them before i had western unioned 250 dollars i didnt even have to them. the state attorney in texas said they dont have a debt collectors bond and that no company by the name of united legal investigative bureau existed. i was threatened with jail, and when i told him he couldnt harass me he called me a bitch and told me he was sending the police to come arrest me here in florida. I explained to him that I wasnt trying to avoid paying the debt, however I needed some type of validity to prove this, he then gave me the case number for this issue, and told me that i needed to pay them 3 x's the amount i borrowed from VC lending. He gave me the same number 480-365-0155 to a roy campbell, and said it was too late for me to work out anythimg with the company because he was going to prosecute me. He called my job and told them I was going to be arrested within the next 2 hours. I had my lawyer call and he called him a punk a** m'fer. He then called me back and told me to send the damn money, i was already going to the western union and i was so scared i sent it anyway...now i dont know what to do...the texas state attorney office said i could file a complaint, and so did florida. but where is my money? western union says they cant give it back. HELP!!!

I was called today and told the police were ont here way to arrest me at work. I started crying. He said his name is officer Erik Newman badge # 348 with the United States Banking Investigation Bureau of Fraud. I had a pay day loan from arrowhead investments of $300.00. Thye have been taking money from my account until it was closed. I paid back way more than $300.00. Anyhow he scared me and told me I would lose my job. Does anyone know what to do or who to contact. My bankruptcy attorney said to tell them they are being recorded. I did not pay them and have contacted our local police department. I am so freaked out. Thats wrong, they screwed up big time. What state do you live in? (let me know and I'll find out if you can record calls in your state without the other parties knowledge) I would suggest if you can record try to get that "officer" to repeat that threat. Here are the violations I've counted so far:
1. Threat of arrest/accusation of a crime (all debts are civil matters, not criminal, you cannot be arrested)
2. Impersonation of a federal agent (there is no such branch of the United States government called the US Banking Investigation Bureau of Fraud, that is such a stupid name anyway)
3. Impersonation of a officer (if the government agency he claims to work for is false, he's certainly not an officer)
4. Claiming that you will lose your job (you can't because of them)

Your attorney is correct, you should call the police. While your at it you should contact the attorney general's office for your state and theirs, which would be AZ

The same thing happened to me this morning at work! The guy on the phone said his name was John, he told me if I did not pay $800 today for a $300 payday loan, which I paid $360 in fees to this company. I had to close my checking account to get them to stop deducting fees! The guy told me the police would be at my work at 2:00 to take me to jail and I would never see my children again and I would never be able to get a good job, that I would DIE in jail!!! Everytime I tried to talk he told me to SHUT UP!

I got the same call this past Saturday at my home only I was in the shower when they called and the jerk who called... his name was "Roy Campbell" had a thick Indian Accent by the way told my 8 year old daughter that her mommy was going to jail and she would never see me again that the police were on the way to arrest her mommy. I SNAPPED! They proceeded to call my home back to back over 10 times and everytime we hung up they called back. It is very hard not to let this get to you which is exactly what they want. I found myself getting very upset and crying. I was told that I had to keep the line connect and drive to the western union and make the payment using quick collect to a location in Florida. I was told that if I got disconnected or if the phone line/connection failed or dropped there was nothing he could do that the police would be at my door in two hours and I would be arrested. I was a wreck. I was trying to figure a way to drive to the western union and not have the phone die... when my husband came home and saw me crying on the floor and my daughter very upset and I told him what happened and when the person on the other end heard me talking to my husband he must have for some reason hung up. My husband told me we were not paying them anything unless I knew who they represented, how much the debt was, etc. I called back the number on my caller ID which was an area code in California not Florida and asked for this information and was told that I couldn't get it until I made the payment. I told them I would make the payment in about an hour and hung up. My husband suggested that I look online to find out more information on the number and I did and found these blogs. Thank God he came home because I would have made that payment and the harrassment would never stop. By the way... the loan was originally 300 and they wanted me to pay 775. I have contacted the AG in Florida and there is several complaints from this company. It was suggested to send a Cease and Desist letter which I have typed up and mail it certified but I am not able to find an address. I am waiting to hear from them again and I will tell them that I want a letter of debt validation and if they say no I will demand that they give me an address and state that I have a cease and desist letter and hang up if I get no where.

sneeley, the last time I heard of a company making threats of taking a womans children away, she file suit against them, she got $1,000 in statutory damages and $146,000 in punitive damages.

You both should file complaints with your states Attorney General's office as well as the FTC.

I did a check on him he lives in Caladeras County. I have a recorder at my desk now and keep it there. I have the info on this guy. I am filing a complaint tomorrow. This guy scared the hek out of me. Almost caused a break down could not even breathe. What he is doing is illegal. Do not pay the money. Tell him that you are recording him. Kimberly
