Have a friend who told the bank to forclose on the home, take the car ,she took what she had out of the bank ,sold some stuff and thrown the rest out,she has no stocks or bonds and she started hitch hiking across country.
She told me she did not care about any bills and she did not care about being taken to court cause they will have to find her first.Said she lost her job and that was the final blow so she gave up,I am worried what will happen to her years down the road when they do find her.

Jeez brecla,
That IS sad, but you know sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do!
Sounds like she's had some pretty awful things happen and got too overwhelmed by her problems.
Maybe she just needs some time alone to sort things out and make another plan.
Some people just need to take a step back and look at the big picture.
Keep in touch with her and just be her friend for now.

That is awful to feel that hopeless and to feel that is your only way out and to make an extreme move such as that. I think years down the road the worst thing would be she will find there are alot of judgements against her, but I doubt she will be put in jail. I feel really bad for her, sounds like she has alot more going on to deal with than her debts and losing her job was the last straw. Hopefully she will keep in touch with you.

I have to agree with Erzeke..Sometimes we know the best things for us..Sometimes we just need to find ourselves to figure out what we need and how to do it.

I think your friend will stop running and settle down eventually. When she does, she will probably have quite a mess on her hands, but hopefully she will have the strength to work it all out. Keep her in your thoughts, and be as supportive as you can. Things have a way of working out for the best.
