Does anyone know what all of this means? Is this company really going to contact my employer?

I like the "your account is under intense investigation at this point", sounds like he is making an underlying threat that you are being investigated. A scare tactic. Stand firm with them, and if you have paid back more than your state allows including the total principal, keep demanding they mark you paid in full, and tell them that their scare tactics are being wasted on you.

Review your bank statements and know how much is paid on this account. Follow up with your state laws on this matter. I feel no company can be trusted on what they are going to do next. Perhaps they have your info and may contact your employer if they don't hear from you. I will say, if you are answering their phone calls and discussing about this account, they should not call your employer. Please tell us on this debt account so that we can advice you the next move.
