Who out there is willing to show your age? Who remembers Twigbees? I remember as a child, my sisters, brother, mom, dad and I going into Higbees and seeing all the lights and decorations. In front of Twigbees, there was some sort of ride. I don't remember if it was a merry-go-round or train ride or what, but I remember it was a lot of fun. We would go on the ride as either my mom or dad held our places in line. Once we got into Twigbees (for those of our "younger set," this was a little store inside a store where children could shop for their relatives/friends, etc., by themselves. The parents didn't know what they picked out until Christmas). I remember feeling so grown up going into Twigbees. There would be workers dressed as elves if you needed help picking out presents. Then you would check out, and workers wrapped your presents for you. I looked foward to that every year.

Up until a few years ago, my sons' elementary school had a "Twigbees." I'm not sure why they stopped. Does anyone know if they have any more places like that? I have grandchildren who I know would love to go somewhere like that.

Thanks - now I Really feel old!! If you went ot Higbees Downtown that was where the Tweenie Shop was and they helped you buy presents for you family for the holidays. Higbees at Westgate did not have one of these shops. (I grew up in Fairview)

Irish, I don't know if you've been to Westgate lately, but just about everything is torn down, including Higbees. P.S. Sorry, didn't mean to make you feel old!

OK - I used to work at Farrells. And Yes I hve seen what they've done to Westgate! Funny thing is - they are designing it just like it was originally. Two Big Box stores at either end and a park in the middle.
