Hi, I have a charged off bank account which currently owes 720.00, long story short i had problems with paypal and recurring overdraft charges. it was about 1,200 dollars do you think i can call them and setup a settlement arrangement? And also I had a bill with cingular, it was originally about 350 dollars but now it is 800+, its in collections with another company, can i try to settle with them or go through cingular? any suggestions would help Smile

Be sure that you pay to the collection agency that has your file. You don't want to pay someone that never had your account information. Under the FDCPA laws, all CA's must send debt validation to the customers before they start their collection process. Did you get all info from the CA as mentioned in the FDCPA?

Ask your bank to show you an itemized statement regarding the debt. You need to review the interests and figure out the total amount. Once you find everything to be correct, place a settlement offer.

Cingular will not want to settle your account. If you want to settle I would suggest you contact the agency that has your file.

why don't you call cingular and see if they will settle, if they say no call the CA and see if they will settle, the worst thing that happens is they say No and then you get a new game plan
