HELP!!! This guy from United Pay Service has been calling me and threatening that officers will come and arrest me for two payday loans -- Midland & Nevis -- I sent them both letters trying to make payment arrangements. Is this real??? What should I do??? HELP!!!

You will not go to jail, so don't worry about that. You need call them back and stand up to them. They are not and can not do that to you. Call back and let them know you are recording the conversation, and tel them what you can do. If you can do anything at all/

Record the conversation secretly but make sure you have checked your state laws. In some states, you will have to notify the caller about the recording done. Otherwise, they might hold this against you and cause legal problems to you because of violating the laws.

It sounds like the company is a pdl place, not a collection agency?

Well send a letter for them to validate the debt.
Then you will know if it is real or not.

NO. But collection agencies are and the second you default from a pdl a ca is all over it

Here's a list of what Payday Loan companies cannot do to you:

First, in order to try and get you to pay, they WILL:

-call you repeatedly at home, work, or on your cell phone - or all three. And many times a day.
-yell at you
-accuse you of fraud
-accuse you of theft
-make you feel guilty because their company "isn't making any money on your loan"
-claim they are NOT breaking any laws in any country
-threaten to garnish your wages

They CANNOT:

-arrest you or put you in jail.
-garnish your wages, unless they are licensed in your state, and even then, they'd have to go to court, obtain a judgement, then proceed with garnishment.
-send the police to your workplace or home
-"download affadavits" against you
-take your home or car from you

These companies can only intimidate, embarrass, or upset you if you allow them to do it. Stand strong, know your rights and your state's laws when it comes to Payday Loans, and you'll come out on top in the end!

You cannot go to jail for not paying these loans back but all in all you can't get to Heaven w/ debt, so even though these people are using horrible scare tactics, you did barrow the money so morally you should pay it back.
