Hi, for the past year i have been trying to get credit and every time, i'am told NO do to my lack of paying or things on my creditreport.
So i to checking in to my credit report and there are alot of unpaid doctor bills showing up.
I have been on disability since 1993 and i have full medicaid.
Is it possible that someone has used my name to incure these doctor bills?

This could be very simple. Have you tried calling the different hospitals to provide them with that information. Or you could just dispute the debts in writing with the insurance attatched.

Sometimes the insurance companies don't pay the full amount of your medical bills so the remaining amount you are responsible for. You should also check w/ your insurance company to see if you have a hospital co-pay b/c if you do, the hospital 9 times out of 10 won't make you pay it up front, but will send you a statement in the mail. I know this for sure b/c I have a $50 hospital copay and if i have to stay in the hospital over night, my copay is $250 and i have utilized both and in eaither situation, they didn't ask me for my copay, but sent me a statment in the mail saying that i owe them the money.

so don't make this harder than it really is. let's do this together one step at a time, because without being proactive you will not know the outcome. Again it could be a simple as you disputing them in writing with documentation proving that you were on medicare or medicaid. I know they pay for all medical expenses. So you might not be so bad off Very Happy

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't it be a good idea to contact the medical offices to find out why the entire bill was not paid by Medicaid? I would think that would be the place to start, rather than with the credit bureau.

SueBEe is right- I would contact Medicaid first. It might something as simple as they made a mistake and didn't deduct what they were supposed to. They can check out the recods listed, and see what happened. Give it a shot, it might be worth the phone call. Good Luck...Karen

I believe that things fall off you credit report in 7 years, but if they have documentation that you owe them money, they can put it back on.

I agree with Bossy and Sue start with the doctors offices and medicaid and go there. Medicad pays in full. I do medical billing and know this for sure. KYSIDE38
