A judge in Nj granted me a judgement against my ex husband. I need to know how I can go about collecting on it. Would filing a motion to enforce the judgement be enough?
Thanks

If you know where he works, you can go file for a garnishment and take it from his paycheck. If not, you can file a citation for discovery to find out where he works and what assets he has that you can take.
If your state has a website for all its laws, try reading up on civil liabilities; or go to the section on judgments to see what you can do to enforce it.

You've already done the hard part, getting the judgment. From here it's a matter of knowing the procedure and the right forms to use. Go to your legal aid office and ask how it's done. It's actually a very simple process. Or, in the alternative, you can look in the yellow pages for someone who pursues judgments. It's usually a former paralegal or a private investigator. There is a small upfront fee and in most cases their fees are added into the garnishment so that you get no less than what you were awarded through the courts.

I was awarded a judgement against my ex husband. We were both on Soc. Sec. Disabilty and he has 2 retirement pensions. Can I garnish any or all of those assets?

social security is exempt from garnishment. Not sure about the pensions, that would probably depend on state laws.
