Palisades Collection, L.L.C. just wiped out my bank account leaving me $920 in the negative! I had paid them off in March of 2006. They have neglected to ever send me in writing that our agreement has been paid off. Now, I find that they have taken a significant amount out of my bank account (or at least tried until I called Wells Fargo and they stopped the debit). I now have to go back and re-contact these people and prove that I have already paid them! What should I do? How do I get out of this companies loop!?

Do you have an attorney? Show your proof and prepare a case against this collection agency for doing illegal activity in your bank account. You should post your complaints to the State AG also for immediate investigations on Palisades.
Since this collection agency has your bank info, I will suggest closing your account and opening a new one. You don't want your personal info to be with someone who has no need for it. And you have already seen the illegal things that these debt collectors can do with your personal info. I am in doubt if they have sold your checking info to some other companies with them. You may find suspicious debits in the future if this account is kept active.

I would definitely close the bank account as suggested above. Have you called the collections company and spoken with them regarding this? I would have my receipt for payment in hand and get them on the phone ASAP. Good luck!

Sue them. They'll stop.
Also, don't let them debit your bank account in the first place. Ask for a bill and pay with a check.

Close your bank account. Find a consumer lawyer and the h@@@ out of them. File a police report for theft.
