Anyone Noticed an Increase in Activity Lately?

It seems there is a much larger number of posts lately (just in the past few days) regarding PDL's and their increasingly aggressive collection tactics.

Could it be they all watched the 20/20 special and decided to join the "rogue collectors club"? Or is it just that they are realizing there are more and more consumers who are aware of the laws of their own state and are standing up for their rights - rights represented by the fdcpa and their state's payday lending law?

Hmmm....your thoughts?

texas - I'm noticing more posts in the collection area than anywhere else. Most of the posts are asking for help with various collection companies or PDL's, especially, and how to deal with the aggressive collection tactics they use.

kyside, you're probably right - I didn't think about the PDLs in relation to the holidays. I guess because since I found this website, I don't even consider PDL's an option myself, regardless of what time of year it is!

Suebee; been coming by here regularly myself. Finally decided to get involved and help when & where I can. These operations have grown far worse than the past and I don't see it ending any time soon. The fed's & states seem pretty much unwilling to shut 'em dow, way I see it.

This forum is becoming more popular even as we speak. I think that the "good guys" are getting the word out that many PDLs are illegal and their collection tactics are illegal. People get desperate start searching for help and come along this site. Enough people read the advice and tell others and so on. I don't know if the site is completely responsible, but it is on its way to becoming very influential in the industry/field.

Why are they not locking the owners up? I'd bet WV has a bunch of two & four lane highways that need to be policed for trash everyday

*chuckle*

Texas, WV and NC are two of the leading states in this fight. I know alot of people look down on WV but I am very proud of my state. It just shows we are not the dumb people everybody thinks we are. KYSIDE38

Honestly, NO, there has not been an increase of activity on here, if ANY thing it has decreased SIGNIFICANTLY. And I doubt 20/20 had anything to do with the numbers on this site. If you pay attention closely, it comes in spurts. But still significantly decreased posts.
