Were these original creditors or collectors? Original creditors do not have to respond to dv. You would send them a debt verification letter which is basically asking for a full itemized accounting of charges and payments. If they are collectors, then they are required to validate. No where in the fdcpa does it specify a time period for receiving validation. It just states that they are not allowed to continue collection until consumer has received full validation. This validation comes from the original creditor so it may take a while. Good luck.

Some of it is from the original creditors and some from collectors.
If they haven't respond for this long, shouldn't the credit bureau take it off my credit?

Credit bureau is a different animal altogether. They would receive dispute from you and contact creditor to check status of tradeline. I would always dispute first with creditor. Once that shows it is not going anywhere, then dispute with credit bureaus. If there are errors on report creditors must correct or remove. There is a sticky I posted in the credit repair forum that explains the fair credit reporting act.Check it out. This is the federal law that regulates any and all things that go on consumer reports.
