How do I get information about my debt? I've called the original credit card company, and was told to call AllianceOne Receivables Management. When I call them, I'm either sent to someones voicemail, or the person hangs up on me when I interrupt their insults with simple questions about my account. I don't know if there's a due date or payment amount, but they cash the checks I send every month. How can I find out what charges are being added to my balance, and how the money I'm sending is being applied to my debt?
Many thanks for any advice!

These kinds of activities crack me up. The collection agency should mention the latest standing of your account if your file is with them. You must get confirmed from the original creditor that Alliance One is authorized for receiving your money. You can also request them to receive payments from you directly if the account is not sold off. Talk to the supervisor of the collection company explaining the problems you are having with their staff and not giving your account information. If it’s possible, prefer to send payments directly to the creditor and keep Alliance One out of this matter.

Thanks for responding to my post Howard. I'd be happy to get ANYONE on the phone from Alliance. Supervisor or otherwise. It seems impossible to dig my way out of debt if I don't have the necessary information to do so. Knowledge is power, and I think the bottom line is keeping me in the dark is to their advantage, not mine.

Stop sending payment. That will get them on the phone fast. Then require they send you a statement of your account showing the current balance with credit for your payments. As long as they keep getting your money, they don't care about giving customer service.
