I have talked to these people on more than one occasion. Each time I talk to them I offer to pay them what I can afford at the moment. The last time I talked to them they (Clare Chesterfield) refused the amount that i wanted to send. Correct me if i am wrong, but if i am offering a payment to a legitamate creditor of collector- they can not turn it down can they? Now the have began to contact my friends and family and that is way out of line. They called an ex girlfriend that just got a new number about two months ago on the new number. I want to know how to rid myself of these people once and for all.

GC, do not pay them. Your money will vanish and not go towards the debt. Contact the original creditor and pay them, not Bass and Associates.

You must send them a Cease and Desist Letter via certified mail. I posted a sample letter below. Just copy and paste it into your MicroSoft Word, and edit it for yourself. Make sure to keep the receipt with the tracking number from the Post Office to prove that they signed for it.

Sample debt validation letter and Cease and Desist letter in one. Do not pay a collection agency any money without first sending this letter. If you have any questions, please contact Anthony. Be sure to send this letter via certified mail, to prove that they signed for it.

Cajun is right. Tell them that you know that their threats are illegal, and they can shove their phone calls up their "division". They are being sued by the Florida Attorney General's Office, so please file an online complaint with the Florida AG right now.

Also send them a cease and desist letter by certified mail/return receipt requested and fax that also. Make sure you save the fax coversheet. Do a search in the search box you will be able to find an address for them. They don't like it when the Attorney General's Office contacts them and also turn them into the BBB and FTC. Don't let them push you around. You have rights.

The problem with Bass and Associates, is they seem to not care that they are being sued, and that every enforcement agency knows all about them. They continue doing their illegal acts. As long as there are uninformed consumers, there will remain victims.

I received a call also this morning from Tim Payne of Payne and Associates and he stated that I or my attorney should call him at my earliest convenience.
I don't owe anyone any thing so I was reluctant to call. I'm glad I checked this site before I returned their call. |
