Guest, if you borrow money, even if the terms of the loan is illegal, you still owe the money you "borrowed."

"so far every loan ive taken out turns out to be not legal in my state but then i still get harassed....."

Lets think logically for a second...they break one law, how hard is it for them to break a second, and then a third... These companies bank on a combination of two things: ignorance of the law, and desperation. No one not in the dark is likely to go through this, but a lot of people have no idea what the law says, and what they'll be in for when go through a loan shark company.

Without knowing everything that Bass collects on, I would have to say it depends on a few things. Most importantly, how much they say you owe, and how you came to owe it. If you borrowed money from an internet payday lender, the chances lessen, as many of these "lenders" are unlicensed and/or operate outside of the law.

You've undoubtably seen that many of the posters have experience with this company, and they do have a habit of making illegal threats. Start a new thread and post the details of your situation. I'm sure everyone would be glad to help.

Edit: Very doubtful...if the loans were not legit, I wouldn't expect to see them in court, except as defendants

yes it was a pdl and I have already have paid them 650.00 they say I owe like 2,000.00 still. What I don't understand is that they do not hound me everyday only once or twice a month. Don't you think that is funny?

"...they do not hound me everyday only once or twice a month."

When was the last time you paid anything?

Edit: Please answer in your own thread.

Then I would guess they feel they only need to call occasionally to squeeze money from you. Money comes in many forms, any decent collector understands that (and collections software helps, too).

But the problem is I don't owe the 2,000.00 like they say I do. My questions is should I stop giving them $?

If you've repaid according to what your state's laws require (or their home state under certain conditions), then you don't owe them anything else, and I would stop paying.

They have to be licensed in the state they are doing business in. There is at least one exception to this: In Pennsylvania, they can do business over the internet, provided they are lending in accordance with the laws of the state that they are licensed with (and lending out of). If they aren't licensed anywhere, it is my belief you only owe them the principal.
