Anyone know the true name of this CA?
He identifies himself as being with FRF.
Phone number showing on ID-caller
888-367-6592

This is the second time he has left a message stating he would like to ask me some things before he signs off on my file.

Also, this call showed up on my ID-caller as being from a local number, but he requested that I call him back on the 888 number.

I just called the #, but the voicemail doesn't say the name of the company. It just says, "please leave a message for Brian Bishop."

Thanks. I dialed the number as well and noticed the recording was taped by a woman with a request to leave a message for Brian Bishop.

I was mistaken. The local call I received was not connected to the 888 number.

Sometimes if you go to google.com and enter the number it will give you the company name...

Or try pushing # or * on your phone. Sometimes it will take you to the main voice mail for the company.

So I dialed it....# sign worked. It is Financial Recovery Services fin-rec.com

Don't erase your message. He violated fdcpa and that should be good for $1000!

Thanks SL.

I'm a little confused though.
How did he violate fdcpa?

Stating he is "signing off" on a file is not something a collector can do. It would be
§ 807. False or misleading representations ...the implication that your account is going to go legal or is in the legal process. All that a collector is suppose to leave on a answering machine is there name and phone number and maybe the hours they are available. Company name should not be left on a voice mail as someone could overhear your voice mail and that would be third party disclosure.

Would it not then be good for 2 vio's--3rd party and misleading representation?

I wish I had known this months ago. I could have nailed one collection agency for about $20,000 in violations.

Rats, I did delete the message.
I have no doubt, this guy will probably call back again and leave the same message.
This was the second call, leaving the same message, so there will probably be a third.
