new way of paying a default IPDL

I had posted awhile back about the settlement I have with oneclickcash. Well in their e-mail to me they said I could pay by western union, moneygram, or a debit/credit card. Well it will cost me $13 to use western union and $17 for moneygram. I REFUSE to give them my debit card number and I do not have a credit card. So I came up with an idea. My credit union sells a visa gift card for $3. So I called and told them how much it would cost to send the payments and I told them that a bank in town has those cards and she said that is fine as long as it has the visa or mastercard logo on the front they can accept that for payment. So then all I have to do is put the amount I want to pay on the card, pay the $3 and they can't even try to get any more money from me because the card will be empty. So now you won't have to be scared to give them any numbers and it could save you some money. I do know that some banks can charge up to $10 for those cards, so I guess it depends on how you want to pay them. Just thought I would let everyone know of a safer and cheaper way to pay.

That is a good idea! I would have never thought of that, but will sure remember it if a situation ever arrives that warrants something like that. You are so smart!! Cool

WoooHoooo I just paid oneclickcash with my visa gift card. Got the PIF in my e-mail right after. Smile So yep they DO work !!!!

I found out from the credit union that A LOT of people do that if they are going to buy something on-line. So they don't have to give out their banking info over the net. Sounds good to me, think I am going to start doing that also.

That is a great idea!! Thanks for passing it on. I don't think my credit union has them but I am going to check. I used to never care about giving out my banking info until I got into the pdl mess but now I don't trust anyone! That is way cheaper than Western Union. We always use Western Union for our house payment. I will see if they would take one of these cards instead!

Sassnlucy,
If you pay your house payment that way, they do have re-loadable credit cards. Those you can pick up almost anywhere but they cost like $10 and they do charge you to re-load it. That might work better seeing as you would only use it for the house payment. I don't know too much about those, you would have to check on it.

As for the gift cards, if your credit union doesn't have them I do know that some other banks have them. Wells fargo does here but I also picked one up at the info desk at the mall in town. The visa gift cards are not re-loadable though, so you would have to get a new one every time.
