I recently opened a new checking account because I had overextended myself by getting into payday hell. I was able to default on most loans, but in my new checking account I gave 6 places my new info. I have paid off 2 since then, and 1 is a storefront, so now I only have 3 making ACH debits from my account. My problem is that I have placed stopped payment on two loans and plan to pay off the third shortly. However the 2 companies keep making debits, and it takes a couple of days for the bank to let the item run through and then go through the process of refunding the credits back to me, while in the meantime those funds are tied up in limbo and not accessible for a couple of days. I've only had this new account for about 1 month now. I've keep the same bank that I had my old account, and I am wondering if they will balk if I open a third account in such a short time, or if I should just let the loan company come to the realize that their payments have been stopped.

If you don't close your account they will continue to go after it with different names and amounts so the bank will not recognize the stop payment. Do not give them any info like Lorri said. And they are worse than leeches like Leah said. Pay them only by money order regardless of what they say their rules are. Tell them what your rules are! Do not be intimidated by them.

Yeah trust me, if you send them a MO, they will cash it. And dont ever give them your bank info anymore! They will suck you dry!

One of them, Geneva Roth aka Rio Resources sold my account to a third party because they couldn't deal with my legalism, but they still keep trying to take money out of my "deposit only" account. That is what crooks they are.

Ok, thank you all for the advice!!! I have a question about the money orders though...how can I check if they have cashed it or not? Is there a way to verify this?

They can be tracked back to the issuer if it is the post office. You can't tell for a couple of weeks sometimes. They will charge you an inquiry fee of 3.15 for a copy of a paid money order

Totally open a new account. Don't wait another minute. These places will not stop. They don't care even if your account is closed. They will keep trying to take money no matter what you tell them.
