So then, are you speaking on behalf of Hess?

Common sense- you sound like the I Can Help You poster, a few pages back.

You are wrong in the fact that a consumer CAN negotiate with creditors.

I have paid in full with creditors I negotiated with in dropping interest, and another one to lower it so I could pay thme off sooner.

Yes, I put myself in credit card debt- for docotrs visits, meds, etc- no vacation trips.

The point being, is whoever you choose check them out completely- I don't care if they are a large firm or small firm-doesn't mean one is more trustworthy than another. karen

Bossy4455, you sound like your boasting on how responsible you are and how you can manage to pay off your creditors on your own, I congratulate you on your sucess in becoming debt free, but you must realize that not everyone can be like you. And no I am not speaking on behalf for Hess, I am speaking on behalf of all the consumers that get more confused by going onto these threads when really they need to do actually thinking on their own. I will tell you what the real options are so pay attention and please stop twisting my words around! If you have high interest rates and the creditors aren't willing to reduce it down, credit counseling Program would be your best option. If you are months behind and you can not afford Credit Counseling Program, debt settlement Programs will be a more viable option at this point. Can you settle on your own, of course you can, just be sure to be able to save up a good lump sum so when a bill collector calls and negotiate with you than you will have that funds available, but if you know you are seriously undisciplined to do that on your own, than hiring a law firm to help you negotiate and have you set aside some funds so they can use it to negotiate with for you. I do not encourage anyone to do settlement because why? Cause there is no guarantee you will make it thru successfully. Now if you can not afford settlement program than seek a bankruptcy attorney before you put yourself in deeper mess and have the bill collectors send it off to their law firms to file a suit and have your wages garnished. So bottom line is this, if anyone looking to get out from under this and I mean debt, just pay your bills on time if you are late get caught up, but if you are too far late and there's no more catching up, start saving quick, if you can not save than your only choice is hire someone to do it.

I am not here to intend to represent any company but if you really want my advise about debt consolidation programs whether it is Credit Counseling or Debt Settlement I am more than glad to tell anything especially the things that most companies won't share with you, hey what do I have to lose here I am just trying to keep it real and truthful cause I know for a fact there is plenty of companies out there misleading the community and that is not fair or right for anyone especially for those that are already crippled from this financial crisis.

What is the relationship between "Hess Kennedy" and "Campos Chartered Law"?

We were with Mezey & Associates. We just got a letter from them telling us that as of Oct. 27 our account is being transfered to Campos Chartered Law Firm. What's the deal with that?

I too received a letter from Mezey and Assoc saying I was being transferred to Campos Charter Law firm but if I wanted to opt out I could call the number listed. When I called to opt out they told me the letter was wrong and I needed to send them a letter in the mail in order to opt out.

I found out that Mezey and Associates & Campos Charter are pretty much one in the same. Customer service answers for both firms. Soooooo you don't need to change anything...acct.# etc. The only differance will be on your bank statement. It will say Campos instead of Mezey. Also, any letters you get will have Campos as the letterhead. THAT IS THE ONLY CHANGE. You aren't going to have to start over or pay anything extra.

Much luck,

Thanks for all the advice here. We spoke with the BBB and they had only good things to say about Campos Chartered Law Firm, very few complaints with 10,000's of clients, which is superb. So, thanks for steering us to them.

ROB1974 - How can they have 10,000's of clients if they have only been in business since apr. 2007, They already have BBB complaints and Attorney Campos used to work for Hess Kennedy who is getting out of the same business and have numerous complaints, its the same scam with a new name. How can they tell you that there 36 month program works when they have only been in business for 7 months?????

Just thought I'd add this tidbit to the mix of things that Hess Kennedy is up to: Looks like they are masquerading as The Achieveable. I got caught up in this before I learned about this forum. I hope I can get out of it w/o having to file a claim with the BBB. Not only is Campos located in FL, but there is a branch in Syosset, NY.

The Achievable's contact webpage: theachievable.com/contact/and their customer service webpage: theachievable.com/contact/cs/paymentaddress.asp

God, I wish I had found this forum before I lost about $1000. We'll see if they respond to the letter I faxed this morning.

Not sure what this is all about, but Campos is a member in good standing with a B+ record. We decided to go with them two years ago and couldn't be happier. We're down to our last credit card and are getting back on our feet financially. It hasn't been easy, as we were living above our means, but it's paying off for us big time. I can only encourage others to hang in there and see it through. We abused our credit cards and had a rude awakening when we were maxxed out and they bumped up our interest rates. Now we know better and will not buy anything unless we can afford it hereafter. We hope everyone else has a blessed Thanksgiving and Christmas.

We went with this law firm/settlement company and got sued after 4 months on the program. They do NOTHING to protect you. Yes we had debt DUH why else would we need a debt settlement company. Any way NO credit card company is going to wait 36 months for a payment. We stopped paying our bills and the fees and payments escaladed. Our only option was to file chapter 7 bankrupcy. Our credit was so ruined that whats the difference. They took over 5000 dollars from us. I had to contsantly call them about the POA they were suposed to send out. To me they take your money and do little else to protect you. Remember the credit card companies have LOTS of Lawyers on their side.
