Hi, everyone, I was wondering if anyone has heard of Churchill Resolution. They say they are collecting on a pdl with CMG Group. I received a letter from them a few days ago and then received a phone call today that was kind of strange. I would like to make payment arrangements with them since I do still owe on this pdl but wanted to know if anyone has any info on this company first. (Sorry if this is a duplicate post, I posted it earlier and now I can't find it).

I had a "strange" call too. They wanted to verify a SSN, right upfront, without any explanation of who they were or why they were calling. I didn't know they were a debt collection agency until I questioned the reason for the call. They were not as forthcoming with answers to my questions, so I did not give any personal information.I'm not stupid! Your experience?

ALWAYS ask who they are before giving out any personal info, such as your SSN, address, etc. I've had a "phishing" call myself, where they immediately started peppering me with questions like "verify your SSN" (and it was the FULL SSN they wanted, not the last 4 digits, which should be enough to verify identity if they already have the SSN on file!), "verify your full home address" etc. I refused to give them the information until they told me who they were, and they hung up....and never called back.

They are driving me insane. Meek, they are collecting for Lazer Lending for me. I sent them a debt validation letter and they continue to call me. I finally spoke to someone and they informed me since I did not put my letter to the attention of any one person that they do not have to honor it. Now I used all the information on the letter they sent me....file number and all and they claim they still can not track who it was supposed to go to. Such organization. I Know they got the letter I sent it crr by usps and I got the green card back. UGH!!

They "don't have to honor it"??? Well, who signed the green card you received? Apparently SOMEONE signed for it, so that's a name. Don't have to honor a debt validation because it wasn't addressed to a specific person? Ummm... isn't it the COMPANY who is supposed to be validating the debt? Not Jimmy Blowhard who gets paid minimum wage that works there? Give me a break! No wonder they're driving you nuts, roxy. I'd give them the name of the person who signed for it and tell them that "authorizes" them to "honor" it. What a total bunch of crap.

Cajun, what do I do. I am sittng here looking at the green card and it is signed and dated with 10/5 (I think the date is illegible) I can even read the printed name. And they continue to call. I can pull my cell phone bill and prove they called becuase mine logs all incomming call numbers. What is my next step.... Do I need to post any more questions on a new thread so I do not hijack Meek's thread.

I would send them a second letter, and note every violation to date! Did you note in your letter that they are not to contact you by phone, but only by mail? Did you point out that while the account is being disputed (which is what the period is called until it is validated and you accept the validation), all attempt to collect must cease? If so, I would note the date and time for every phone call in which they are trying to collect. I would advise them that they are in violation of federal (and possibly state laws, if you are in a state that has it's own debt collection laws). Tell them that your validation letter does NOT need to be addressed to an individual in the company, and that they are still liable for honoring your request. If they continue to pursue collections without providing validation, you will report them to the FTC, your state attorney general, and will be filing suit against them for damages! Let them know you know your rights! Either they will back down, or you will have some extra spending money! Wink
