Sub: CRS Phone call
Wed, 10/10/2012 - 20:39

I got a call from a CRS collection agency today, regarding an old bank account that was apparently not closed right. The account was charged service charges, etc. Long story short, this person told me that the bank was getting ready to file suit. She told me that some type of arrangement for payment of 1/3 of the account had to be made, other wise she was putting this down as a refusal to pay. I have no way to pay this until the first week of November, and she said there is no way to know if USAA will keep the account there or move on to court.
She was not pushy or rude like most collectors, but I still wonder how much of what she said is true, and if there is any way to know what the real status of the account is. Any suggestions???

Sub: #14 I got a auto message from these clowns saying they were collectiWed, 05/12/2010 - 13:46

I got a auto message from these clowns saying they were collecting money for some passed debt. I did a phone number search on whocallsme and found the following posting --

"I just received a call from another person claiming they had received a fax from this number claiming they were trying to serve me papers to appear in court. I asked the guy who called the name of his company and/or organization and he simply stated he worked for himself.
I called my attorney and he said that this was NOT the legal way to serve a summons and that it was most likely a SCAM."

Don't dignify them with a response. BTW, my credit rating is 825 and I have never missed a payment in my life.

Sub: #15 I got a call from a 1-877-431-6840 and they are calling themselvThu, 05/20/2010 - 17:49

I got a call from a 1-877-431-6840 and they are calling themselves CRS but when I asked the lady what that stood for she said " Charles, Robertson and something"? Like it was some law firm or something. Anyway, I think its B.S. and it may be this company that y'all are talking about called "Capital Recovery Services". This is over a payday loan from ACE Cash which are located in alot of states. They threaten to send a "summons" out to my wife's work. Any help or any knowledge would be appreciated, Thanks!

Sub: #16 I received a call too from CRS and asked them what the debt was Fri, 05/21/2010 - 10:03

I received a call too from CRS and asked them what the debt was concerning. They informed me that it was from a credit card I had back in 2000. However I've never had a major credit card ever and then they told me I was lying and they could see my credit report and that I was just avoiding it..I told them if I had that debt why would I answer the call. So the first rep hung up and I called back wanting to know more bout this phantom credit card I had but no one could give me info. So a manager told me if I called back again I would be harassing them. Where can I obtain the info for this credit card or would I be better off disputing it??? I dont know what to do

You should not ever give those kind of callers any information. They are usually a scam or an expired debt that cant be collected on. Require they give you the original debtors name and contact them instead.

Sub: #18 Also got a call from "CRS" saying it was a 24 hour courtesy callThu, 06/03/2010 - 14:12

Also got a call from "CRS" saying it was a 24 hour courtesy call that I was going to be served for some major liability lawsuit....? It was an automated message that left a claim number and told me to contact my legal counsel and call them back. I'm a SAHM, have never been involved in any accident, and my debt is very small. I just got this cell number and stupidly signed up for a ringtone thingy. Lesson learned. I'm sure that is where they got my number. The number was 877-966-0656 I also got another spam call from a different number, they didn't leave any messages, but are also listed online as a spam caller.

Sub: #19 I just filed a formal complaint with the FTC. I received a call Thu, 06/03/2010 - 15:35

I just filed a formal complaint with the FTC. I received a call from this number. It was automated and it said they were giving me 24 hour courtesy notice that I was going to be served for a major liability case and gave me a case number. I did not call the number back as it was highly suspicious - phishing I assume. I have read a couple other reports of the same thing online. One person said that a foreign sounding woman asked him for his social security number. The phone number that called me was 877-965-0656 but I have also seen this in other countries/from other numbers. The company claims to be CRS - there are over a dozen companies with these initials but I can't find one that handles major liability cases. I also stupidly entered my cell number on a ringtone website and voila the telemarketing begins. And I know better too! Shame on me.
