Sub: #1 Date open with Afni collections – What does it mean?

I have a question regarding AFNI Collections. I pulled a copy of my credit report last week and there was a line on there from AFNI with an open date of 1/09. It is supposed to be for a T-mobile account. I have never had T-Mobile. I sent a debt validation to AFNI, but my question is this when you see a line on your credit report what does the date open mean? Is it when the account was opened or is it when the collection agency got the account?

Date opened would be when AFNI first reported to the CRA's. If you have never had T-Mobile, dispute as "Not Mine"

Thank you I will do that. Shouldn't there be the original listing from T-mobile on the credit report before it would go to a collection agency?

T-Mobile doesn't report unless it goes delinquent. You might try contacting them and see if they have you in their system. You might also investigate if this is ID Theft.

Date opened for the CA?? Then does that allow the account to remain for 7 1/2 years??

No. Reporting period is triggered by the Date of First Default only.
