Getting so frusturated, can you help me again?

Months ago, I was dealing with American Collections and their rudeness. At the advice of this board, I wrote the company a letter and told them how rude the man I dealt with had been, and demanded them to send me the hospital bills that they said was outstanding.

So, they sent me the bills and basically I blew them off for a little while (I know not the right thing to do....)

Anyway, I'm dealing with another lady from American Collections now, and it's not that she is rude-- but she is very persistent.

I did take care of a couple of the medical bills thru the insurance since they didn't bill it correctly, but now I still have quite a few balances left.

The problem is, our primary insurance has "patient responsibility" or "deductible" which to me means WE ARE supposed to pay these bills. However, my son does have state insurance-- and it's my understanding that the patient portion, and the deductible should have been picked up by them. I can't see their payments online so I really do not know if they did infact pay it, or if they didn't. It's about 40 dates of services (my son was a preemie and in the hospital for 6 months) and I'm not looking forward to calling the insurance company about it. I'm trying to see if I can talk to a caseworker. I KNOW for a fact that I DID submit the insurance information to the hospital because all bills after August 06 WAS paid and these are all applicable to June 06-August 06.

If for some reason the secondary (state) insurance DID NOT pay these-- should I have to pay them if the hospital did not submit it on time?

I dont think I'm allowed to resubmit them to the state insurance at this point since it's more then 9 months after the service date-- but since the HOSPITAL did have the information to bill correctly and they DIDN'T-- Is that my fault?

Please help me if you can. This is making me crazy. Between the mortgage and all of the other things piling up, I'm really getting sick of researching this.

I"m about to tell them just dump it on my credit report-- i dont care anymore. I'm a stay at home mom and I don't work-- so really I just dont care!!! Seriously, what can they do to me besides ruin my credit? I have no wages to garnish.

Just so fed up....

If you are not sure if it can be resubmitted, contact the state agency that related to your son's health insurance provider and ask. Worst thing they will tell you is no. They may be able to back date it to cover it.

So, do i call the insurance company, or the hospital? This is stressing me out so bad. I will try to see if I can get a hold of my son's social worker tommorrow. Thanks for letting me vent in my message. It helps when I have people that listen and that understand.
