I have a couple of CA's on me about ancient debts. They are well past SOL (9-10 years old) and off my credit report as far as I know. Should I send a DV letter or would that just open the door for more trouble? It would be a bad idea to settle because then it would show back up on my CR, right? I want them off me.

I am confused...are they trying to collect on this debt? If not I think I would just let them go especially since the sol maybe up for your state. What state are you in?

As to possibly paying them.... I don't pay any CA one thin dime without proper validation. Ever. One thing that may not have occurred to you is that validation my provide proof of the age of these debts. Just a thought. You can, of course, do as you deem best in your circumstances. Given the age you cite, I'd likely just send them a politely worded 'get bent' letter.

Just helping where I can....
Besides, 'get bent' sounds so much more polite and professional than 'F.O.A.D.'.

Being that they cannot sue or report the debt to the CRA's I'd just send they a Cease & Desist and hope they violate it.

uncle, so would the "get bent" amount to the cease and desist letter?
Yes, they are trying to collect. Still.

If they are 9-10 years old, not on your credit report, the CA's aren't hounding you about them, and you don't possibly have the extra money to pay them off, I'd be worried about resetting the SOL and having them show back up on your CR. We know this "legally" shouldn't happen unless you paid toward them; however, you never know what type of shenanigans a CA might get up to if you requested validation.
Like UncleWulf though, I wouldn't pay them a penny unless they validated and I had some sort of agreement in writing. Period.
Ugh, fish! Allergic to shellfish and don't eat fresh or saltwater fish at all. Can't even stand going past the seafood section at the grocery store. I remember there was this restaurant in New Orleans that used to have a big pot of crawfish that seemed to be perpetually boiling in a corner window. You could smell it a block or two away. I'd always go several blocks around it because the smell made me nauseous.
Pretty strange for having been born and raised in Florida.
I actually think that's one of those "forced perspective" shots. The subject you want to appear larger, you move up closer to the camera.
Still, a clever picture.

More of a 'f&#% off and die' thing, in sentiment anyway. Politely worded, that would be a total cease-and-desist letter.
