You can file complaints with your state Attorney General's office, the Federal Trade Commission, and even file civil suit if you wish.

I don't believe you need to send them anything at this juncture, James. Like I was sayin' a page or so back, it's not up to you to prove you don't owe what they claim. It's up to them to prove that you do. That's the purpose of validation: to prove that this is a valid debt.
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/validation You sent them a validation letter. They received it on or about 3/25. By law [fdcpa], they're required to stop all collection activity until they provide that validation. __________________

I say let them hang themselves a bit more. Give it some time, then send another letter, mentioning the violation (and any others they may have committed by them). You can even phone them and record the conversation, get them admitting they don't have any validation, or better yet, that they don't have to provide it, then you have them in quite a spot if you took them to court,.

I think I would rather stick to doing everything thru the mail. The recording of phone calls would be difficult depending on where I am at if they would happen to call.

Why should I have to re-read it bearah_ha87? It just states for them to validate the debt that they have. I have the right to do that. I am not scared of you and all these money hungry debt collectors. I just want it validated properly. If you would take the time out and read what I first posted on this topic you would see why I want it validated. If the account is mine then I will pay it off. I just know that I am not putting money into something that I know is a scam or is a mix-up on someone else's end. I work hard for my money just like the next person. Stop trying to belittle people because this forum is a site of hope for people who want knowledge. What is so wrong with that? Aren't we as people supposed to grow? I bet you are the type to sit back and laugh at people who are trying to better themselves but get tenacious when they try to feed their brain with more knowledge. You don't know me and what I go thru on a daily basis so if I want to validate an account then that is my right to do so.

calm down!
i never said you didnt have the right to do so.. 1st of all i never even said i was a debt collector! and btw im female.. i have read the whole forum.. as well as the letter you forged to asset.. it says no phone contact.. not anything about mail.. your contradicting yourself and need to be more clear about your wishes if you want anyone to help you.. i deal with collection companies on a daily basis and yes, was in your shoes at one time.. so no ones belittling anyone or "bulling' or what ever else you would like to cry wolf about..
-if i was a debt collector i would definatly love to harass you though.. u get this riled up in an online forum.. id love to see what you would say if u had the balls to talk to them in person! |

Also, for your educational benefit. Per fdcpa a consumer has the right to limit the manner in which a collection agency may contact them. They may specify what numbers to not contact them at (such as work, cell phone), limit their contact through USPS only, or for them not to contact them at all if the request is submitted in writing.
