I know in my state the summons doesn't have to be served to you personally. They can give it to anyone that answers your door, and it's considered correctly served.

you dont need a signature for the summons in ny, not for a debt, i thought you would know that mr smart pants

the summons could be hand given to a neighbor as long as they are 18 y/o

but typically its left at the door

Thanks Goudah. I'm not familiar with many state laws outside of my home state (my home state I can quote by chapter, title, and section most of the time)

whoa what is all this going on. listen guest, dont pay attention to any of it, do as jcemt said, if you have not been served PROPERLY then yes , if you go to court , the judge would have to vacate the judgment BUT it is a valid debt, you would be put on a court stipulation , but affordable to you, trust me the judge will work with you, not against you

Thanks Mike. Could you take care of the previous posts on this thread as well. I let myself fall into that mess too so you can delete mine too. I accept responsibility for my actions and am prepared to accept any disciplinary actions I receive.

people get in debt for a reason, because they are in a bad financial situation, its a terrible thing being in debt and the calls every day remind you that you havent paid your bills , but just remember that things could be worse, and make the best of what you have.

Thanks lawgirl, I'm still in the process of becoming debt free. I may reach my goal by the end of the year though. I can't wait, then the only people I owe will be my cell phone service, utilities, and insurance.

Hey sorry to all for my harsh words. However some people need a verbal lashing to put them in their place. I too accept and disciplinary actions deemed necessary by the moderator.
