Is it an illegal practice for a debt collector to call you on Sunday?

I don't believe so. It is illegal, however, for them to call before 8 AM or after 9 PM, your local time.

Some people are so inlove with money that they have no regard what so ever for the fact that most people need a respite...even on a Sunday. The devil stays busy 24 7.

Very funny, WULF!!LOL I get calls, from CA's BEFORE 8 AM and AFTER 9PM sometimes. Anyway I can stop this? Obviously they can care less what time they are calling. I've never gotten a call on Sundays, I do have to say.

Yep you can stop that. Just plain out tell them that you know the laws and they are not supposed to call you at this time and if they don't stop you will report them. And let them know that you have a record of when they called. Thats all it took for me to get a CA to back off. I haven't heard from them in months.

SDC, are you recording their calls?
Do this: When you get one, hit the record button as normal, and tend to the call. At the end of the call, hang up, but do not stop the recording. Pick up the phone again, and dial star-6-9. The system will give you the number of the call you just took, along with the time and date. There's your proof, all in the same recording.

No...I'm not recording the calls. I have Caller ID, but, when they 'block' the number Idon't know who it is. SOME CA's 'block' them..some don't. Concerning *69...if the call is 'private' or 'blocked', I can't get a 'last call' number. Yep...I've told 'them' to stop calling that early or late. Like they REALLY listen to me.

Some telcos are set up so that *69 queries the switch. That will usually get results, especially with older equipment in the switching office. Other/newer systems query the central system. Less chance of results there, but still worth ten seconds of your time.
